sad to say, i've seen syracuse play more times this year than the hoyas. i caught both the su-nd and su-prov games and definitely think this team is beatable.
my su breakdown:
gmac - still tough as nails. has been driving the ball much more than in the past. had some nice long passes against prov.
pace - game has improved significantly. driving with confidence with his patented lefty leaner. horrific foul shooter.
forth - playing with much more control this season. takes charges and plays decent d.
mccroskey - making 3's.
warrick - i just love his game. he abused gomes on saturday. has added range to 15 ft with jumper. impossible to stop on the block.
edelin - played well vs nd. got yelled at all day vs providence. expect him to go out and try to prove something tuesday.
roberts - playing surpisingly well with decent inside/outside game.
su doesn't have much depth. plus, they're back to their poor ft ways. my keys:
1. gotta stay close. can't let su get a lead. that's when gmac steps on your throat and hits a couple of 25 footers.
2. patience against the zone. not sure how the hoyas offense will look against the zone. su's zone has gotten much better through the years. everyone talks about chaney and his matchup zone being difficult. i'd rate the su zone as being tougher. they trap well and the zone is very active in closing passing lanes. the hoyas need to make some 3's.
3. green not getting in foul trouble. i'm assuming that green will matchup with warrick. green cannot pick up any bad fouls with him. it's near impossible to stop him down low. better to let him get his from the field than with green on the bench with foul trouble.
can't wait until tomorrow.
