Good win by the Mountaineers over NC State tonight in a close game. Both teams played well down the stretch, and the BIG EAST once more came out on top of the All-Crap-Conference. Fightin' John Beliens are on their way to the other Final Four. BE representing in the city.

Good thing the scout boards are back up because I was laughing my ass off all day reading what has been going on the Grabby board:
It goes something like this
NCState troll: West Virginia is full of inbred hicks
Offended Eer: No way, North Carolina is full of inbred hicks
NCState troll: no you're a hick
Eer: no you are
and so on

My favorite part about the NIT is that it is shown on ESPN while the women's NCAA tourney is shown on ESPN2.

My favorite thing about this year's NIT is that there could be 3 Big East teams playing in the Garden at the Semis. It'd be like the BE Tourney---Part II. Oh yeah, I also LOVE watching that other conference's teams fall by the wayside (2 of them last night!!).
As for the Athletically Challenged Conference, Syracuse has a chance tonight to take out the lone remaining ACC team in the NIT. Potential NIT Final 4:

Should we really be proud that the Big East could potentially descend upon the NIT semis? I mean it's better than not descending, I guess, but it's also not really something the conference can hang its hat on.

2nd Tier or not, the NIT is still a great tournament, and this year's has been super-competitive & fun to watch. Also, I have seen the Big East hang its hat on NIT Champions in the past (St. John's).

Not every team in a 16-team league can make the NCAAs. It's an accomplishment for the Big East if our middling teams can beat the middling teams of other BCS conferences and the top non-tourney from other conferences.

In an argument for conference depth (especially with the ACC talking about how good their middle-to-bottom teams were this year), it is a big deal.
Or at least, as much of a big deal as the NIT could be.
