The other thing that will affect tourney selection is how we do towards the end of the season. We are only four games into the season! They like to put teams in who are on a roll towards the end so a solid BE season 9-7, coupled with an impressive run in the BE would put us in. Preseason they were calling for Cuse, UConn, Pitt, ND, BC & WVU to make the dance. I think we can easily make a case if we outplay and have a better record then ND & WVU.
We've got to win the rutgers, SH, St. Johns, ND type games especially at home.

I would rather focus on going to the Big Dance instead of the Senior Prom. Gold baby...GOLD

It is an extreme challenge I think for us to make the big dance. I'm very excited about the fast start but let's face it, this is a young team that more than likely is going to lose games that we are assuming they will win, like St. John's or Seton Hall. The Big East is tough and I expect we will not do better than 9-7 and that isn't going to get it done. Obviously Syracuse is an enormous game. Win and the math becomes vastly easier to see.

Without any major injuries or problems, I see us with a 12-4 finish.

Georgetown will never "host" an NIT game. It just will not happen. I've been to a Georgetown hosted NIT game (UTEP), so clearly it has happened. And with no hockey this would be the year for it. But let's keep our eyes on the bigger prize.

Georgetown also hosted an NIT game at George Mason.

"We told them we could have a home game at McDonough and the NIT basically laughed at us." Craig Esherick, November 2000
In reality, Georgetown will never host an NIT game due to its current facilities.
It can't play at MCI because the NIT gives the arenas about three days norice on hosting games and the combination of pro sports and the high rent that MCI would charge the NIT make it infeasible.
In 1993, with the Cap Centre booked, Georgetown hosted UTEP at McDonough. The stink raised from Don Haskins about the facility and the difficulty in getting there (UTEP nearly missed the game on the bus ride in rush hour from National) led the NIT to get the word out that Georgetown would not host any games as long as McDonough was the way it is. They moved the following week's game to the Patriot Center on short notice, but it only drew 2,925.
Rememebr the 2002 NIT, or lack thereof? That was caused because the NIT folks was planning on putting Georgetown out to Ames, Iowa and then on to UNLV, with no expectation of a game anywhere in Washington. Esherick said "no thanks" and while that was a huge story in its day, it showed how the idea of an home game in Washington is so remote to the NIT folks.
Georgetown has played 10 straight NIT games on the road. No other school I'm aware of has gone so long without at least one game at home, and it's not likely to change.

After looking at our remaining schedule, I thought we might be able to finish the season 7-5. We play some of the middle of the road big east teams at home, and the better teams we have to play on the road. Plus, Rutgers is usually a lot tougher to beat when they are at the RAC.
My estimation
Wins: Notre Dame, St. John's (x2), Seton Hall, Villanova, Providence, and West Virginia
Losses: At ND, at Rutgers, at UConn, at BC, at Syracuse
Then if we are able to go 1-1 or 2-1 in the BET, we could finish up 19-10 or 20-10. A record of 10-6 in the Big East regular season would be nice, and it would almost certainly get us into the NCAA tournament.

20 wins is what we need-- it's the magical number. We're on our way....
One of those wins has to be against a ranked team, in my estimation... but we'll do it.
