Stacey Dales and Swin Cash are now in the studio attempting to talk about the Mens game and it really sucks to a point that I can't even explain. As an admitted sexist when it comes to certain sports--FB, BB, and Baseball, I hate the FORCED political correctness of having a woman's basketball player comment on the men's game when she has no idea of what it's like to actually play in a game at that level-it would be like me being allowed to sit in with people on set--at least I've played pick up with some male players and know how good they are--these WNBA "stars" miss open layups that I don't at the Health Club, can't run, can't jump, can't do anything remotely close to what you see in the men's game but they are now forced into studio. I was waiting for ESPN to ruin something else since they seem to have ruined any other reason I watched the channel and only watch games now--and have to eliminate the halftime shows due to this joke. Now if they had Bonnie Bernstein and Erin Andrews in Bikinis talking hoops--I'm all for it, but any WNBA player is a joke. It would have more credibility if they commented on former Hoya Daymond Jackson's propensity for missing layups as that is what happens in any WNBA game, but to talk about what is going on in a game is just so sad--they have no clue, are just there to show how "progressive" ESPN is, and it's awful. Next thing you know they'll have a guy who resembles Gummy from Fletch or Car Attendant from Ferris Bueller's Day Off in studio (Hubert Davis) Give me the old school days when chicks played their awful basketball overseas, their sport was televised on channels that weren't in my cable system, and their scores didn't take up my ticker checking update time on ESPN News or ESPN 2 when not able to see Hoyas. And yes, this is still driven from my rage at missing entire 1st Half of GU-WVU game last year due to Full Court showing a Depaul women's game that was being televised on ESPN 2 at same time--I'll never forget/forgive that debacle and it's a one man war against that mess that is Women's Basketball--a half hour of missed layups, fouls, air balls, stupid play, and that was from team that was AHEAD BY 40 POINTS!! Oh, the horror!!!

agree about the need for espn to have WNBA players doing commentary on mens games to "balance out" the broadcast. WNBA is bad but not as bad as you make it out to be.... i still wont watch it though. and men miss layups all the time too.. in fact i think we missed about 3 vs. ball state.

Purely a PC move, nothing more. Although I will say, it is refreshing to hear someone on ESPN talk about a game and not yell and scream about it, or make ridiculous pronouncements like their "talent" always seems to do. But that's about all they bring to the table. If I wanted attractive ladies to oogle, I'd hop on the internet.
Everyone should be fired, and the Nessler-Vermiel-Jaws combo should work every game of every sport.

"i'm not saying they belong in the kitchen, but I know they don't belong talking about sports." - RD "Keith Hernandez" F They don't belong in the kitchen--I'd rather cook my own food. ;D I have no problem with women talking about women's sports and mens sports like Golf/Tennis, it doesn't bother me because games are similar only lacking in power--but the structure of the game is same. Women's basketball players never face the athleticism, speed, and talent that men do--they have no idea of what it's like to be out there. They use a different ball that is smaller for the same hoop men do. They always criticize the men's game and skill level of players when I've seen games where these women can't dribble let alone make a hoop--and it's from WNBA players--the supposed greatest in world. Women have no clue what it's like to play Baseball or Football either and having Pam Ward get on Chris Spielman a few years back because he used the term "NG is in a cocked alignment over the football"--her reply was "you can use a better term then that" when fact is that is how it is has been described for DECADES--and don't know anyone who views it in manner she did-if she didn't like--don't call the damn game!! Women are superior to men in numerous ways--but commenting on Men's Sporting Events they have no clue how the game is played--isn't one of them. Stick to talking about the WNBA, Women's Hoops, Softball, Soccer, but please no Men's Hoops, Football, or Baseball--they have no idea of what is going on and never will.

Not disagreeing entirely here, but are men who have never faced the athelticism, speed, and talent of sport at its highest level, like Andy Katz, Peter Gammons, Chris Mortensen, etc. also unqualified to offer analysis? Would a woman sportswriter who really knew her stuff and had great sources, someone like Jackie MacMullan, be ok?

I'd be willing to bet that Stacey Dales and Swin Cash (despite not being - or facing - the best athletes in the world) know a lot about the X's and O's of the game and could break it down reasonably well.
Seems to me that if you've played any sport that long, you can look at some tape and analyze it in a much more sophisticated way...
And it's not like men who used to play these sports are exactly earth-shattering analysts all the time. Except for Jaws. Jaws kicks ass.

Buff- Just thought you should know that your hero Bill Simmons agreed with you on their work today. But does he take it as far as I do? I'm saying they should call Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, the Thursday NFL games, any late-in-the-season Saturday games, all BCS bowls, as many regular season college games as they can, as many March Madness games as they can, the baseball playoffs, the Masters, the NHL playoffs, we'll spare them the horrors of the NBA, the WSOP, Scripps Howard Spelling Bees, Mr. Universe, American Idol... everything. Has that team done anything ever besides that one opening MNF game?
