Do the coaches even care? The most recent coaches poll has West Va. at #7 and Rutgers at #8?
West Va. losses to Louisville, Louisville losses to Rutgers. Rutgers is first in the BE. Undefeated.
Hey even if you feel West Va. is a better team (which I personally do) there is no way when you sit down on Sunday morning to do your rankings should Rutgers be behind West Va.
Cumputer somehow looked by the stupidity of the coaches and has them correctly ranked higher. I realize the computer is far from a perfect system (playoff) but at least it makes sense.

But then again, how does this make sense: West Virginia and Louisville both have one loss. Louisville beat West Virginia. And yet, the BCS has West Virginia at #8 and Louisville at #10!? Wrap your mind around that one.
Then again, any sort of rankings system will not make sense from time to time. Do you know the one thing that DOES make sense? All together now... a PLAYOFF SYSTEM.

Lazy human voters. WVU is ahead of L'Ville in both the Coaches and AP polls

Maybe the W. Va.-- Louisville question comes down to who lost later ... albeit by a whopping one week. Although I am with you in general. If you are in the same conference and therefore playing generally a similar overall schedule, and if you have the same record and have played each other then it only makes "common sense" that the winner head to head would be ranked higher. Strangely though, it is always said that the flaw with computers lack emotion and "common sense." Oddly enough, that is always presented as a "negative" aspect of computers. Now we really see what they mean. Computers are free from the trained biases towards or against anyone and focus solely on what actually happened rather than trying to explain "why" it happened.
