I was just watching halftime of the BC vs. WVU game on ESPNPlus, since they promised to show scores and stats from yesterday's Big East games. The only games that they ended up showing were the Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and Connecticut games. Who do we have to beat to get respect from ESPN or anyone else for that matter? When they showed the standings with us at the #3 spot, they still couldn't stop talking about the ranked Big East teams. I guess that should say something about ESPN, since Pittsburgh and West Virginia don't deserve ranks in the first place. Shame on ESPN and the Georgetown haters- of course maybe when we stick it to Syracuse and/or BC they'll come running to us for a 'feel-good story'. Maybe at that point we can tell them how much we appreciated their coverage during the first half of the season.

Forget about that.
What I want to know is why as a DC area resident I can turn on Channel 7 and see freakin' Boston Collegeg vs West Virginia and not see Gtown vs Villanova (20th anniversary of championship game) yesterday. That is the bigger disrespect as far as I'm concerned. And what about Tuesday game against Cuse? A game that could play a part in determining if the Cuse wins the BE.
By the way WVirginia is looking horrible. I'm going for BC anyhow. I know that's not fashionable these days but BC is going to be one of the top four teams in the bE this season. So I might as well see the best four teams beat the other BE squads (with the exception of Gtown) as much as possible. That will help the Hoyas finish in the top five or six if they can pull out about six more wins.

Just tuned in to the BC vs. WVU game...they actually just praised Gtown and "the work JTII is doing". Their praised included a near gaffe, as they said Gtown almost won a close one against Villanova yesterday...after a brief pause, they corrected themselves and noted that Gtown indeed won.
I too wish we got more TV time

I don't really expect to see any of our highlights on any of the ESPN networks if we're not playing a ranked team, so that's not a shock to me. However, it is an absolute travesty that this game or the 'Cuse game aren't shown on even local TV in the DC area. For any team from a major conference, the majority of their games should be shown on local TV, period. Especially conference games, and ESPECIALLY against ranked teams and rivals like Syracuse.
And don't even get me started on the fact that on-campus Hoya cable doesn't even include News Channel 8...

Besides the fact that the GU v Cuse game should be televised, what are the chances that the game will be shown at the ESPNZone?
That way I can watch the game and still complain...

The fact is that CA shouldn't have to find a friend off campus to get this game - its should be on ABC or CBS as it has been in past years. In addition the fact that we aren't getting any love means that if we beat Syracuse and have a really good 12-4 record with our only losses coming to tournament teams we will
A) Get no votes for the Top25 like we should at that point.
B) Might not even be considered a bouble team because the selection committee has to pay for a ticket to MCI to see our games.
This makes us an effective mid-major - thanks ESPN.

Yeah I don't understand the logic of showing WVU/BC game in DC and not showing the Villanova/Georgetown game. Our time will come.

ca u gotta find a friend off-campus... annoying but necessary I do have a friend that has off-campus cable and I may go over to his house to watch some future games. Last year, Hoya Blue had game watches in Village C Alumni Lounge when away games were on Full Court, but I haven't heard anything about this yet for this year. However, if you want to breed Hoya spirit among students and gain a devoted following of the team, not having ANY games that a student can simply watch on their TV in their dorm room is inexcusable in my eyes. TV is a way we can reach out to fans, and it's something we're not doing. I feel that the attendance problems at MCI and the lack of local/regional/national TV coverage are connected in this way.

the game won't be on satellite or anything, unless Syracuse has some rinky-dink affiliate that covers the game on its own, without ESPN plus, and even that may not be a legal possibility.
Look, these schedules are mostly set before the season starts. They've made some modifications, but these are to games much later in the season. The fact is, when the schedule came out last year, there was absolutely nothing surprising about the fact that so few of our games were on TV. Everybody on earth, including most of us, expected us to be pretty darn lousy.
The fact that we are now not on TV when we're actually playing well probably makes up for the last few years when we've had games on national TV despite being a despicable team.
The coaches in the Big East expected us to finish 11th. That ESPN-plus reacted to that is no surprise. Winning will take care of everything over time.

Big Dog is right...yet ESPN can make any changes they want, or at least, Comcast can pony up the cash and buy the rights to rebroadcast the game.

Yeah, TV was just reacting to the bad times of last year, but that 1) doesn't mean it's not annoying that they aren't showing any GTown games 2) doesn't mean ESPN can't do something to put the games on TV and 3)I agree winning will solve this problem but that's next year and I want to see my Hoyas NOW

I just noticed your new signature CA-all I have to say is that that is some dedication to the program. And it's true too. Some nights I come back from a game and I am more exhausted than I would be if I had been doing THAT for the past two hours. Wow, OK, I'll stop now.

I was just watching halftime of the BC vs. WVU game on ESPNPlus, since they promised to show scores and stats from yesterday's Big East games. Who do we have to beat to get respect from ESPN or anyone else for that matter? We have to win. They showed the top three teams in the league - Cuse, Pitt and UConn -- over the past three seasons. Maybe that's all they had time for. And, no one is going to show highlights of a game that was never broadcast in the first place And no one is going to pay for "rebroadcast rights" for a game that was never broadcast to start with -- so there is no video tape. Most GU games used to be televised because we had a good and interesting team and coach. Those days are gone. JT3 has to rebuild that, and he is off to a great start. The DC channel that chose WVU v BC did so because of a number of reasons, the first of which is it WAS AVAILABLE. If you are ESPN or a local TV broadcaster, you are only going to do a TV production of a game if you know there will be a big enough audience to cover the cost of the TV production and whatever rights fees might be involved, and it has to be by a big enough margin over your alternative TV programming to make the whole thing worthwhile. Clearly, GU games are not perceived that way at this time.

would have to think that the admin deserves some of the blame for no tv--they should have fought hard to get at least the syr game covered--I would think tht the BE TV sched is somehat of a negotiated thing between the conf and the network, though I'm not surprised that they would roll over like they do to pressure from most external groups.

What the hell do you expect from the SID. When was the last time you saw them function in a way that actively looks for ways to promote GU sports? It's as if someone is just looking to retire...
