The Celtics also cut Pitsnogle. True, though not as a result of any gunplay. Turned out he was not the second coming of Larry Bird.

Yeah, It was tangentially related and I didn't see any other NBA threads.

Tony Allen is also awaiting trial for assault charges...The way things are going for the Celtics, Doc Rivers should be coaching Jeremiah full-time by January. You can't really blame Rivers though, duxnews. His team is pretty awful. The only person on the entire time capable of scoring is Paul Pierce, notorious for not being a team player and jacking up miserable shots. A lot more of the blame should be on the atrocious GM, Danny Ainge.

Hoyals, perhaps you should actually make a point yourself rather than responding to the diction of my post.

Okay you clearly didn't catch any Celtics games in htown last winter (which is understandable, not many people did) so let me educate you on what happened with the Celts: I didn't know that Paul Pierce was "notorious" for those reasons. Fact is, Paul Pierce is coming off the best year of his career. The new defensive rules in the NBA benefit a guy like Pierce who drives the lane and gets to the line. Pierce was the only guy in the league last season to lead his team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals. He did it all, as Doc continually changed his supporting cast and player rotations. Despite Pierce's fine season and heroics, Doc Rivers continued to lose. Here's a Bill Simmons quote on Pierce: " Pierce rarely forces anything, leads by example and does it with a smile on his face. During crunch time, where most franchise guys are looking to make the biggest shot, he's just as likely to grab a big rebound or take a crucial charge..... Now he's one of the best all-around players in the league, a franchise player in every sense. Meanwhile, he's surrounded by mostly overmatched young players and wildly overpaid big men, as well as the only coach in the NBA who refuses to settle on a nine-man rotation." Oh and if you need to see why the Celtics should have fired Doc LAST YEAR, check out: proxy.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/060112"Doc Rivers stinks as an NBA coach"................. Dux, I agree with you re: Pierce and I think htown is rather misguided on this front. HOWEVER, I don't know that Bill Simmons -- The BOSTON Sports Guy -- is necessarily the right person to use in support of your argument. I think he might be a bit biased when it comes to the Celtics.

Duxnews, you are right, I didn't catch to many Celtics games in htown last winter - probably because they were too terrible of a team to ever make it on national TV. I think I can recall them playing only once or twice. Furthermore, I'm not that impressed that Pierce led his team in all of those categories, as the Celtics were one of the worst teams in the NBA last year. His supporting cast was simply awful, so it's not too hard to beat them all out in those categories. Pierce is a good player, I just don't think he'll ever win a championship. Lastly, don't even get me started on Bill Simmons being a credible sports analyst. The reason why Bill Simmons is stlll writing for ESPN is because readers find his bias amusing. Great, Bill Simmons - an analyst accepted as biased by nearly every reader - supports an athlete on a team from Boston. You really have me impressed.

Duxnews, granted that Rivers didn't do a very good job as coach of the Celtics last year, I think you're overlooking the fact that save for Paul Pierce, the Celtics are full of young, unproven players (although some with a great promise for talent, like Jefferson and West) and players that simply are not very good. Rivers probably isn't the best coach for such a set up, but I think you're overlooking the blame that Danny Ainge needs to take, as he is the one controlling which players stay and which go.
I also find it interesting that someone with Kobe Bryant as their avatar is such a large advocate of the Boston Celtics.
