I just noticed only the passing stat link came through, I guess because that is the most recent site I came from. I will try to get rushing and team stats posted as well. As for passing, here are a couple of notables
#70 Drew Weatherford -- FSU #66 Brady Quinn -- Notre Dame #43 Chad Henne -- Michigan #19 John David Booty -- USC #15 Tyler Palco -- Pitt #3 Troy Smith -- THE Ohio State University
and ....
#1 Chris Leak -- University of Florida

Doesn't "Florida QB" + "Good Stats" = "Guaranteed Biggest Bust In That Year's Draft"?

What I gather from this chart is that SMU QB Justin Willis is really, really awesome. Adam Tafralis and Lester Ricard are beginning to look like first-round NFL draft picks. I mean, because this is really when we should vote for Heisman and All-Americans, after Week 3 and everything. When most numbers are inflated by cupcake opponents. Opponents like Southern Miss and UCF, for example.

Doesn't "Florida QB" + "Good Stats" = "Guaranteed Biggest Bust In That Year's Draft"? I think it goes deeper than that. In many cases the guy who puts up the big numbers never really materializes as an NFL star. That is not unique to Florida. Guys like Tim Rattay and Mark McGwire's brother ... what was his name? Dan I think ... anyhow guys like that often put up big numbers in college because of their schemes etc...

I'm sure sliding short of a first down to avoid the hit will certainly help Chris Leak come draft time

Opponents like Southern Miss and UCF, for example. Austin, I posted this halfway as a joke and halfway to show RDF how "wrong" he is about Leak. No doubt that there is a lot of football to be played and no doubt that these rankings will shuffle around quite a bit. There is also no doubt that schedule strength plays into these numbers quite a lot. A weak or inferior schedule will produce big numbers. Accordingly, a really bad team that is always throwing the ball since they are way behind are likely to put up more numbers, but not likely to be in the efficiency category. In any case, I am in no way suggesting that Leak is the best QB in the land. He is far better than RDF suggest however ... at least in my opinion. Lastly, don't knock Southern Miss. They are a very sound football team. I look for them to win the C-USA fairly easily and maybe even pull off an upset somewhere along the line. I agree with you on UCF however. They have been a big disappointment. They really thought that George "O'Really?" had the program moving in the right direction and are securing funding for some fancy new stadium. Unless they get better very quickly they might hit a snag there.

I also hate Universities that call themselves "State" like they are the only "State." I think Penn St. is known as "State College" sometimes and down this direction "State" is somehow supposed to mean "Mississippi State Bulldogs." Personally I would think that LSU or FSU would have a little more claim to being this region's "State" ... but what do I know.

Y'all care way too much.
What I do hate is the new way MNF has one guy introduce half his team. That's annoying.

No, I know "State College, Pa." If that was the name before the University then fine. My guess is that it wasn't. I just find it a might pompous to claim yourself to be "State" or "State College" when there are obviously quite a lot more of them. The "State" itself indicates where you are .... not the fact that someone claims to be from "State." Think about it. I don't live in "City" and even places like Kansas City and New York City can't reasonably claim to be "City." Although I'm sure somewhere they do.

I'm sure State College was the name given to the town because State College is there.
Just like the town of Calhoun Corners existed prior to Clemson College being founded but the town that formed later was Clemson.

So stats make Leak a great QB? Just like his great stats from HS would make him a Championship QB? He was a questionable call from throwing a Pick SIX and having that game over. He did the same thing he always does when facing a big play when UF needs a first down--slid short. The guy is NOT a winner/championship QB. He can throw the ball, but that doesn't make you a winner. Danny Kannell could throw the ball too and that guy was garbage.
Impressive win for Florida--Leak didn't impress me at all--same old stuff from him and that won't get it done over long haul.

RDF, when do you think Coker takes the knife in the back. I have seen rumors that it could be this week. I heard that he had a very closed-door meeting yesterday with the powers that be in Coral Gables. I also heard he cancelled an engagement with the touchdown club in Atlanta that we supposed to take place today.

I heard that he had a very closed-door meeting yesterday with the powers that be in Coral Gables. I also heard he cancelled an engagement with the touchdown club in Atlanta that we supposed to take place today. There have been conflicting reports--but now hearing he will likely coach out remainder of year. Problem I have with this is he could win some games due to ACC being at same level Miami program is right now--I mean it's really poor football this year. Canes win and get to ACC and win--which is possible as disgusting as they've looked and Coker is in BCS bowl and remains--which won't correct the problem--and detioriation of the program. If he's canned--it would happen today--and Shannon would take over as interim coach. Just heard Coker will make it through and yesterday he screamed/called out the players--true sign of desperation is when someone goes outside of his personality to get team going. Be who you are and in Larry's case, he's a great guy who is a good assistant coach and lousy head coach.
