We have a weekly college football pool contest at my local watering hole. Just for fun I will post the games and anyone who wants to give selections please feel free. Simply pick the winner of each of the 12 games. The spreads don't matter but the pool master always picks the tougher games. Spreads are rarely more than a touchdown on the selected games anyway.
Here are this week's games:
Wake Forest at Conneticut Syracuse at Illinois Michigan St. at Pittsburgh LSU at Auburn Miami(FL) at Louisville Oklahoma at Oregon Mississippi at Kentucky Texas Tech at TCU Memphis at East Carolina Clemson at FSU Florida at Tennessee Colorado St. at Nevada
The tie breaker is total points in the Florida-Tennessee game
Have funa with this and let's see who is the best prognostiGATOR among us.
For the record here are my picks Conn. Syracuse Pittsburgh Auburn Miami(fl) Oregon Mississippi Texas Tech East Carolina FSU Florida Colorado St.
Total points: 47
Not that it matters, but I have it Florida 34 Tennessee 13

Let me be the first to bid this thread farewell.
Like it or not, hifi, with the presence of the in-season thread and the predictions/picks people are making in there, my guess is this gets locked down as clutter. Good luck.

Take it easy on hifi, Buffalo. What he didn't mention is that his local watering hole is actually a watering hole!
;D
(Sorry, hifi, I couldn't resist; it was just too tempting. Like "Alexi Yashin skating with his turtleneck up and his head down" tempting.)
For my part, all I care about is that Michigan beats Notre Dame (how the hell can you have a pool that doesn't have that game in it anyway?) and all of the other 6 Top 25 matchups are close down to the 4th quarter.
And all the Big East schools win. That too.

Syracuse in basketball? The devil. Syracuse in football? Meh. In the long run, better to have all the BE football schools do well (yes, even U-Con) and have a strong BCS conference that stays intact for the important sport. Besides, Illinois wears that same abominable orange and blue, so I can still pretend I'm rooting against Syracuse. Don't get me wrong though. I'll be ordering my Jim Boeheim toilet paper in time for basketball season: www.justtoiletpaper.com/customnew.shtml

Boy, you guys are a tough crowd as the saying goes. What the hell was wrong with this thread?
On a somewhat related note to something Boz was mentioning, I went to the Fightin' Gator Touchdown Club last night. The guest speaker was "Shwaub" (sp?) of "Stump the Shwaub" on ESPN. He was a pretty entertaining speaker. Anyhow, he was hyping the Big East quite a bit. He said that in years past the conference had certainly been sub-par but were clearly moving in the right direction. He praised West Virginia and Louisville obviously, but he was very complimentary of Pittsburgh, Rutgers and even UConn. One member asked him about the Scarlet Knights and admitted to being a "closet Rutgers" fan and what he thought of their chances. He flat out said that they were going to a bowl this year. Now granted, that isn't that much of an accomplishment on its own generally, but for Rutgers it is certainly a move forward. All in all, he thought that the Big East was totally undervalued as a conference in most national opinions.
Who knows, it might not be that long before we can play each other on the Gridiron ....

We are still digging our way out of the hole that schmuck of a coach left us in. And he is currently doing the same to Illinois. (Pronounced "ill-uh-noyz" if you believe the Zooker.
