From the AP article on ESPN: Wildcats coach Jay Wright argued Cook was on the court when he attempted his inbounds pass and the basket shouldn't have counted, but the argument went nowhere. "I didn't think they took the ball out of bounds, but it shouldn't have gotten to that point," Wright said.
Any merit to this accusation or is it just sour grapes? If anyone saw the game, let us know what you witnessed.

By the way, the radio broadcast made no mention of any last second controversy so I'd say Jay Wright is talking out his bum.

Rich was also knocking over mics and losing his mind in euphoria so he could have easily missed it.

Re: Cook's pass. I recall reading an article in the LA Times about Westchester's coach after they won the state. He was compared to Wooden in that he did very little coaching during the game. He said that he teaches his players how to play in a game during practice so that they would know what to do during a game. He compared it to taking finals. If you don't know by now....(I never understood that since I did all my "learning" the night before the final) but whatever. Maybe Cook instinctively knew what to do. Just a thought.

I believe Rich did make a mention of it after he figured out where his flailing arms launched his mircrophone.
I listed to the end to the archived Nova broadcast and they mentioned it. Incidently, neither guy had a problem with the foul call but it was just a matter of whether or not G'town acutally took the ball out of bounds.
News4 in DC showed a couple highlights of the game but unfortunately not that last play. I would love to see the film.
Good game. By the way, those who made the trek, what did you think of our on campus facility? Quite a bit different than the Wachovia Center, wouldn't you say?

If you don't know by now....(I never understood that since I did all my "learning" the night before the final) but whatever. Maybe Cook instinctively knew what to do. Just a thought. Good point. Owens was quoted saying he was doing what he thought JT3 would want him to do. Cook played for Westchester and his training there may have made it instinctive for him, but Owens had to get that from JT3. Also don't know if they had a timeout or not, but if they did some ,if not most coaches, would call timeout and try to setup some type of play. JT3 said they don't spend time on that play in practice ,but his instructions were to throw the ball long if they scored and see what happens. This may have been just a freaky call on his part on a day the basketball gods were smiling on Georgetown, or another example of how these Hoyas (unlike the recent past) are focused on how to win the game instead of how not to lose the game.

In the Times article JTIII said to the guys in a huddle before the last sequence that if Nova was to score, they should just throw the ball long and hope for the best. "I did tell the guys, 'If they score, let's just throw it long and see what happens.' "
I like to hear a coach prepare his team for all possible situations.

GODS ON OUR SIDE clap clap clapclapclap
my favorite cheer, and I'm thankful the bball gods have begun smiling on us again, despite the student section consistently trying to anger them.
