Red Bulls aren't exactly the heirs to the Cosmos' legacy - but don't forget that Bruce was really successful with DC United in the early years of the MLS Cup - if he can have some control over player signings he'll do well.

Intresting team to go to since DC and NY are the clsoest thing there is to a rivalry in the MLS. But obviously it wasn't a big of enough deal to keep bruce from taking the job. I'm sure people aren't lining up to hire him, not that he's a bad coach he did very well in MLS. lets see how he does the second time around.

This strikes me for some reason as very much an interim move. Red Bull just fired their coach, and they're in tanks-ville, but it's a big city and a chance to recharge Bruce's batteries before...at least I think...he ends up with a gig at a small-time EPL side or something in the SPL/that word I can't pronounce that's the First Division in Holland, etc. at the start of the 06-07 European campaign. He was a GREAT MLS coach though. Like I said in the WC thread, you could reasonably argue he's the best USMNT, MLS, AND NCAA Men's coach of all time. As I also read today, he's T-2nd (with Pat Riley) on the all-time list for Consecutive Postseason Victories as a Coach in North American pro sports for his run with DC United (13 straight wins). Number one with 14 straight, incidentally, is Scotty Bowman. sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=2523505
