Interesting and funny article. I think the prospect of Maier playing for the Orioles or the Yankees with his childhood idol Jeter is fairly overblown, seeing how he set records against Division III competition and has only a 50/50 shot to get drafted. If he does get drafted or signs with a team, he is likely to spend an eternity in the minors, and would probably be a long shot to ever make the majors. Simply put, he has a long way to go.
Still, though, it sure is interesting and ironic. I'm sure there are a lot of Orioles fans out there that would like to exorcise the curse of Jeffery Maier much sooner rather than later.

If the Orioles draft Jeffrey Maier, I think they owe it to their fans to invite Tony Tarasco to spring training as well.
Just, you know, to make things interesting.
What happens after that could be the worst athlete hazing scandal the world has ever witnessed. I'm not going to venture a guess as to what could transpire, but I think it's safe to say that it will involve Maier having his once outstretched arms firmly tied behind his back.

Maier and Danny Almonte (the kid who threw the perfect game in the LLWS and ended up being 2 years older than his team claimed) both went undrafted.
