Overtime playoff hockey is the best thing going in pro sports, bar none. As much as I'm a fan of "athletics," the Penn Relays got nothing on SUDDEN DEATH OT.
What a great game - adios, Dallas! Who woulda thunk Theodore would bounce back like he has to lead the 'Lanche to the playoffs?!? If Carolina can come back and take the series, the Habs may end up regretting running with Huet...

I knew that I would get a response out of you, Buff. Actually, nothing against hockey (I was a big fan of Cornell hockey, when I was in grad school up there - very exciting). I just hate the way NBC treats track and field fans - like they don't matter. In their opening credits on the Penn Relays "show" they advertised that we would see Bernard Lagat running for the USA for the first time against his native Kenya. When they got finished "editing" the coverage, they showed about two events, four commercials, and they never showed the USA vs Kenya in the DMR - world bests for both countries. They could have at least taken up some of the local programming, like the poker we got to see (Las Vegas only?). It is typical of the way NBC or the commercial networks broadcast track and field. I wonder if the hockey fans would like their taping the playoff games, and then editing the show only to show some of the goals, and not showing the OT, because some other program went long.

This may be the first year in which I do not watch one playoff hockey game. Thank you, Jeremy Jacobs.

The Dallas - Colorado game going into overtime cut the NBC coverage of the Penn Relays to 30 minutes instead of an hour. Thus we didn't get to see Georgetown student, Chris Lukezic running in the USA team against Kenya in the DMR. Add poker to the things I hate today, as they are having the full coverage of the poker tournament. I pretty much hate NBC too, but not for the reasons you list. I hate NBC essentially for two reasons: Notre Dame and Tom Brokaw. They shove the Irish down our throats in weekly contests on their very own network, and Tom Brokaw ... yet another liberal anchor with left wing bias.

I am with you there Buff. (See, I knew we had to have something in common. ) I am one of a very limited number of hockey fans down here in Florida. And I will be the first to admit that we have far too many "fair weather" hockey fans as well. Everyone had a Lightning shirt or cap 2 years ago, now that they are not very good everyone just forgets about them. The same thing happened several years back when the Panthers were making their run with the Beezer in net. Incidentally, where is John Van Biesbruck (sp?) now?

or we could make them staple sides of beef to their head and release a pack of wild rabid dogs onto the ice. I WOULD pay to see THAT!

Not sure what your point is ... he was around for what ... 25 years!!!! All the while spouting his liberal rhetoric unopposed. Jennings and Rather are no longer around either for differerent reasons but I still don't think much of ABC or CBS either.
