This poll is after the response of Williambrasski's thread about how much you hate Bonds. We all hate someone, but who do you hate the most?

Eric Lindros.
I hated him from the start, now the fact he's on my least favorite team of all time makes him that much worse. Recently surpassed Dan Marino.

You missed Ratboy. I'm going to assume someone, somewhere, will pay him to play (I hear the Tibeten All Stars are looking for a PG).
Definately hate him more than anyone else.

Stephon Marbury. Get off my Knicks right now.
Also, Cal Ripken Jr.

I am glad to see that Mike Tyson made the list. He is the one "professional" that I absolutely resent having money ... even though he claims to not have any anymore.
I am kind of surprised OJ didn't make the list. He did after all kill 2 people. And in his case, he still gets to live "high on the hog." We probably all know that he lost essentially the same civil suit that he was "innocent" of in criminal court. He has judgments against him from the estate of Nicole Brown as well as the Goldman family. But by law they cannot touch his NFL pension. So he still gets a big chunk of change every month. The "problem" is that he cannot acquire any assets or then they will revert over to the Brown and Goldman families. So he is "forced" to spend the money every month. It is like a never-ending real-life Brewster's Million. You kind of have to resent that don't you? OJ is traveling wherever he wants to go, staying in the nicest hotels and eating at the fanciest restaurants and playing golf at the nicest courses, because at the end of the month he can't have anything to show for his efforts ... well except for a suntan. I think he gets my vote.

Why in the world are Vijay Singh and Alex Rodriguez on the list? The only thing controversial with Vijay was his comment pertaining to women playing on the men's tour. And I would think most of us would agree with him on that. Did I miss something he said to give people significant reason to dislike him ... especially to the point to label him in this kind of company?
As far as Rodriguez is concerned, I think he takes way too much crap. For being in the limelight as much as he is, he really hasn't done much to deserve criticism. Yes, he's a Yankee and you either love them or hate them. But all he has done is put up hall of fame numbers year after year. And then as the best shortstop in the business, follow "orders" and change positions. For the first year or so he took his lumps as a poor fielder ... well no sh!t ... he's not a third baseman. He is now and he has turned into one of the better fielders there as well. I just don't see why so many people say bad things about him. Someone enlighten me....

Are you illiterate? Controversy has nothing to do with this poll. Merely hate. Go home.

How can you hate Shaq? The Big Aristotle? I cannot think of anyone funnier in sports this side of Chad Johnson. I would KILL for the chance to interview that fat bastard.

Cal was entirely hateable in the twilight of his career when he was no longer getting it done at the plate yet still getting more love than any other player in baseball from the national media. I remember Yankees fans especially hating him, probably because they were forced to read Ripken articles all day everyday when their team was on its way to winning the world series in each of Ripken's final two seasons.
But seriously, the focus of my hatred moves from player to player. Right now I think I probably hate A-Rod the most, for:
a) ruining the Rangers (even though I'm a ChiSox fan) b) telling Varitek "come on" and then getting punked like a pansy c) never winning anything d) those Radio Shack ads with Daisy Fuentes.
On a related note, has there ever been any period in sports where there have been more "isn't this guy a hateable athlete" stories in the news? I mean, last summer a middle-of-the-road veteran pitcher shoved a cameraman and it spawned a media circus. I couldn't have cared less, just like I didn't care about Kobe's rape trial, T.O.'s relationship with his teammates, or Keyshawn's yapping. Sportscenter has become more like Access Hollywood for dudes because of the hypercoverage given these stories. So I guess what I'm trying to say is I hate ESPN much more than any of the hateable pro athletes that are the focus of their flagship show, which I no longer watch.

Does Katie Couric count? Not an athlete? OK
Can I say NASCAR as a whole?

Have to go with OJ followed by Tyson. These two take repulsiveness to a whole other level.

I guess I should have added OJ. I was only thinking of active players when I was making the list.

I hate Cal 'cause he looks good losing his hair. I look like a chump. Um ... I don't think that fact that you look like a chump has anything to do with Cal Ripken. You are a chump with or without hair. Aren't you the guy who gave me a bag of crap for no reason other than I am a Gator fan ... not because of anything I said, but just because I am a Gator fan. I think we have found the chump ... and it isn't Cal Ripken.

I will give you one more name that you may not recognize. Darnell Dockett
He played linebacker and then D-line for FSU. In the 2001 UF-FSU game, he was accused of intentionally injuring Earnest Graham by wrenching his knee. At first the video evidence was inconclusive. A week or so later, someone discovered video from a small TV station from down south. You could see a total unobstructed view of the play. Dockett had a hold of Graham's ankle and was in on the tackle to a degree. After the play is over and as the ref runs in fromthe right sideline to spot the ball, you clearly see Dockett crawl up about 3 feet and grab Graham around the knee and then wrench himself up onto his toes 5 or 6 times, almost as if he were doing reverse push ups, arching up onto his toes. After that footage was found they showed it on the nightly news and it was spooky actually seeing it on film. The news anchor then decided to dig through all the footage of the game watching Dockett. He found a couple of other dirty plays, but one stood out in particular. In the second quarter, Rex Grossman was tackled near the sidelines. Dockett, who wasn't even involved in the play, was caught on film clearly trying to stomp on Grossman's right hand as he was standing up. Thankfully he missed and then before he could try again, he was pulled back by teammates. The pinching and biting that goes on in the pile is one thing, but deliberate attempts to injure which have no contact even tangentially with the sport is something else. Who knows, if a 250 pound guy stomps on a quarterback's throwing hand, it could break multiple bones. It could easily ruin a career. I think that has no place in the game. In my mind that was akin to Tyson's ear biting, but with potentially far worse ramifications. In situations like this I don't even abide by a 3 strike rule. I think if you do something like that, you should be barred for life.
