"Our team has played unselfishly all year long. Joakim and Al have rebounded well for us. They have given us a low-post presence. They have given us shot-blocking, and they certaily add a defferent dimension to our team. There are different types of players and these two compliment each other pretty well." Billy Donovan
"I could have shot the ball, but when I saw he had a better shot, I just gave it up to him" ... "I always know that he's going to be around." Al Horford
"Horfy is a beast, man" ... "He's one of the players that sometimes, it bothers me that I get so much attention because I know how good Al is and how much easier he makes the game for me. People say, look at Noah dribble down the court. Al is doing the same thing, and not getting the love that he deserves. His strength out there, and his rebounding ... there's no player I'd rather play with than Al on my side." Joakim Noah
Horford recalled first meeting Noah at an AAU Tournament in Las Vegas. Horford's crewcut and sweatshirt contrasted Noah's braided hair and African jewelry. "We're different in a lot of different ways," ... "One thing we have in common is that we both really want to win and we're winners. When you have something in common like that, it's easy to get along." Al Horford
"If I get really excited about a play, I don't know if I'll be chest-pounding, but I get excited." ... "It's not like I'm always with a straight face. But that's just the way he shows his emotion all the time. It's not a cocky thing, it's the real Joa(kim)" Al Horford
Asked the chances of all three players (Noah, Horford and Brewer) returning next season, Horford replied: "the chances are great. We love it here." Al Horford
Noah believes the personalities of the two impact the perceptions of their abilities. "I think it's just that he's more quiet." ... "The stats speak for themselves. But when he's on top of his game and he's playing like the warrior I know he is, it's crazy." Joakim Noah
Those certainly sound like quotes from and about a cocky selfish player don't they? I didn't think so.

hifigator: posts designed to elicit negative responses such as this one are not welcome. We're happy that you're happy about your team, but the intent and effect of this post is simply to re-start an argument. Face it, you are not going to convert anyone here into Florida Gator fans.
Moving this to the Pro & College Sports Board.

Dan I apologize for listing this on the wrong board. My mistake ... I was just going to the same board that the related topics had been on before. I am not flaming or trying to convert anyone to Gatorism, but rather responding to the specific claim that Noah was an attention grabber and interested in himself not the team. That is just absolutely not the case. Here are a couple more now that I am in the right "room": "Jo(akim) is such a captivating kid with such a great personality and enthusiasm," ... "One thing that I respect about him is that when the media comes to him in the locker room or wherever, he wants to spread it around. He doesn't view himself as a celebrity or a team leader in this regard. He just doesn't look at it that way and our other guys respect that." Billy Donovan "Jo(akim) is also smart enough to know that each guy on our team has played a significant role in where we are going to right now." Billy Dononvan

The issue is that nobody here cares what Billy Donovan and his players think of each other.
As I said before, you aren't going to convert anyone to your line of thinking and you're only going to incite a flame war. Enough.

Besides, my own personal point was not a matter of what Noah is like in the locker room, or on the practice court, or anything else.
I think he carries himself poorly on the court, and these quotes don't change a thing about that.

I think he carries himself poorly on the court, and these quotes don't change a thing about that. Fair enough and we agree to disagree to steal a line from many a sports talk host. All I am saying is that his emotion on the court is spontaneous and instictual, and not in any way intended or designed to draw attention to himself. On a side note, this is very likely to work against him as Mizell pointed out in his article, as it will be nearly impossible to bring that kind of emotion and fire on a daily basis to an 82 game schedule. But I disagree with you that he "carries himself poorly on the court." Fair enough?

GO AWAY, HIFIGATOR.
NOBODY HERE CARES ABOUT YOUR PLAYERS, WHAT YOUR COACH THINKS ABOUT THEM, WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THEM, OR WHAT DESIGNER MUMU JOE-KIM IS WEARING TODAY.
Give it a rest, man. Get a life. Get a woman.

It just obviously isn't a very wise thing for someone in your situation to do. And Georgetown is supposed to be one of them there "smart" schools isn't it? Hypothetically speaking, "if" Florida football is a joke, then where does that leave every team other than the 16 that finished higher ranked than we were last year? Must be an awful lot of people laughing out there. Methinks they might be laughing a bit more at Hoya football though.

No. I merely said deal with people talking trash about your program. People can laugh all they want at G'Town football. It is what it is. Nobody pretends its some D1 program. Its freaking Patriot league. It IS one of "them there" smart schools. We're smart enough to recognize that even though our alma mater's football program isn't that good, the essence of sports talk is criticism of other teams/coaches/players and guess what... that counts UF football. I personally couldn't care less about SEC football (or college football in general), but once again you're trying to set the rules of debate/conversation. And its rather pathetic.

So if I defer to "your" rules as you have stated them, essentially in this venue you are free to say pretty much whatever you want within the rules of conduct (cussing/personal attacks etc...) Therefore it is totally appropriate for some to make fun of another team, whether such criticisms are justified or not. BUT, if someone decides to respond to these criticisms which he finds false, then he is the one "out of line." That is a strange set of standards if you ask me. Lastly, WilliambraskyIII wrote: hifigator, you are a dipshat Would you care to support that position or are we just to take your word for it? I mean, I could say the exact same thing of you ... then where would we be?
