I was skeptical, but man, this is actually pretty fun. The Dominican lineup is unreal, just teeing off on Carlos Zambrano now. I hope the US team brings the same type of energy we are seeing in the DR-VZ game this afternoon. If you have MLB.tv, all the game are being shown online.

I was as well... but I've come around. Despite players dropping out, this to me represents a great way to promote the game both at home and abroad. I have my litany of complaints about MLB, but I love the game of baseball as much as anything. And to me, this has the potential to be the best example of pure ball at the highest level that we've seen in years.
No stats, no bonuses, no bulls#it. Sure its flawed, but its better they play it now than in November when the entire league is totally burned out. And I love the day game aspect, obviously. One of my BIGGEST complaints is that outside of the north side of Chicago, baseball has all but eliminated the day game and the double header. While I doubt we'll be seeing any double header's during the tourney, there are tons of day games on tap and that - to me - is baseball at its best.
I think Papi is right - once other players hear about how much fun this year's players have and once the fans come around (and they will), more and more players are going to want to participate in subsequent tourneys. It will always be tough for pitchers, but I think this will only get better.
Can't wait to hit up San Diego for the semis and finals!! Here's to the NCAA selection committee putting our Hoyas out there that weekend!!
