A sad day for the world of baseball. Kirby may have had some rough times after his career ended, but anyone who watched the game of baseball when he played has to list him among their favorites. I know I do.......
Rest In Peace Kirby.

Even though I am a Braves fan it was clear that Kirby had a lot of fun playing baseball. He will be missed.

For my money, the best World Series of my lifetime is still the '91 Twins-Braves series. All those one-run games, a full seven-game series, tons of memories...
... loved that guy.

What's kind of creepy is that his former teammate Al Newman had a stroke and almost didn't make it a few years back--and they are similar in build--although Newman has lost about 25/30lbs since his stroke and Kirby get getting bigger.
Very sad to see anyone go at a relatively young age--45 might seem old to some but it's too young in my eyes. Very somber mood around Twin Cities today and tomorrow will be very quiet as Kirby had that type of impact on the area--and to this day is still seen as their favorite Modern Day player in any sport--even ahead of KG and when Randy Moss was here.

Yeah, this is really sad. Condolences to TBird
As bad as this was, though, the death of Dana Reeve was even worse. At least Kirby's kids still have their mother.

Yeah, this is really sad. Condolences to TBird Thanks for thinking of me Hoyarooter. Kirby was my hero when I was little. Baseball is now and always has been my favorite sport. And Kirby was baseball when I was growing up. He was more than that though. Kirby transcended the sport. This website does the best job of summing up what Kirby meant to Twins fans everywhere and Minnesotans in general. www.bat-girl.com/archives/001391.php#comments
