I admit to disliking little athletes. I hate underdogs/cinderella--unless they are my team and even then I expect best teams to compete/win Championships as it should be.
With this said--last night's dunk contest was a joke. If a guy needs 22 missed attempts to get something done--pulls out another freakish novelty act in Spud Webb and jumps over him--why is that impressive? A 5'8 turd should be able to jump over a 5'7 turd and call me impressed if he pulled out Shaq and jumped over him.
Iguodala was robbed--had best dunk of night--just end competition after his behind the backboard dunk and tell Mighty Mouse to go sit at the Kiddie's table and dunk on a Nerf Hoop while grown folks compete.
Maybe Iguodala should've missed 30 dunks, taken up an entire hour and then pulled out a Sheryl Swoopes jersey with Rainbow Pin on it to please everyone out there.
And what a fitting way for a Knick to win something--in a total cluster BLEEP manner.
Yes-still furious over another mediocre Hoya game, what looks to be a trip towards NIT land if we don't get our act together this week, and fact every favorite Hoya of mine gets stuck in organizations run by moronic goons who surround their Hall of Fame talents with GARBAGE. Iguodala is one of the true talents to ever play beside a Hoya in NBA and he's still learning--but man was he robbed last night.

Yeah, NIT land, sure, you're out of your mind.
I agree that the 20 attempts or whatever were absurd, but get that NIT crap outta here.

Yea he missed a lot of attempts but you seem like you're hating to me.
A 5'8 guy should be able to jump over a 5'7 guy? I would like to see Josh Smith or Iggy jump over somebody who is as tall as they are. There are very few people in the history of basketball who can do stuff like that--Vince Carter, who jumped over a 7 footer in a GAME comes to mind.
Nonetheless, Nate's dunk over Spudd was still the best of the night IMO, and it only took him one try to do it. I mean, Iguodala needed a couple tries to do his behind the backboard dunk too--should he be penalized? The way they have it, you don't, so I don't blame Nate (or anyone else) for trying something a bit harder, knowing he'd miss a few times before he got it. If you're not penalized for missing, why not try the high degree of difficulty dunk rather than the easier one that you can hit on the first try?
Iguodala looked great in the rookie game and I thought he'd win. The behind the glass dunk was really sweet. Still, his other memorable dunks were essentially a variation of what JR Smith did last year, and of what JR Rider did years ago. You can still argue that he desserved to win, but I certainly don't think it's as obvious as a lot of internet fans have made it out to be.

Put a regular-sized player in a chair and it's almost as high as Spud Webb. Players have dunked over sitting teammates all the time. Color me not that impressed. Combine that with the 13 attempts at the final dunk, and Iguodala should have been the champion. But as RDF alluded to, New York bias carried the day. He's 5'7" and he plays for the Knicks. Of course he was gonna win.
Just because you're short doesn't mean you can't leap. Height has nothing to do with jumping ability. In addition, he didn't jump all that high. Assume his legs are three feet high. Robinson's feet did not clear Webb's head; just his...nether regions...had to. If Webb is 5'8", that means he barely has to get three feet off the floor, which the average NBA player can probably do. Figure that his outstretched arms reach two feet over his head, and that's a fairly easy dunk. Not that any of us posting here could do it, but for a professional basketball player, it's cake.
And RDF is right...four more games like the last two and we are in serious danger.
