Not only are they STILL not sold, but the DC Council voted against the proposed lease the team would pay to city. sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2322781This is pathetic. I love the District, but at this rate it don't deserve a team. Maybe NoVA is a better choice... (Ugh, I can't believe I just said that... I'd almost rather move the team to Vegas then put them in the heart of suburban sprawl)

Of course Washington deserves a team. It's the Nation's Capital and the fifth largest media market. Enough said.
The rampant chicanery that is the DC city council makes the concept of home rule seem an anachronism, much less that 51st state nonsense.

No, I know they should have the team. This situation just Editedes me off, that's all.
They better get their act together, because NoVA will grab the Nats and run at the first opportunity.

The DC Council pulled a John Kerry - it first voted against the lease before voting for it. All in the same day/night.

I assume that you would rather not have a stadium/lease deal because you value irrational consistency over bargaining. And we wonder why nothing gets done in Washington. Anyway, at least we were able to hurl another personal attack at a senator based on the Rovian playbook of taking comments out of context and oversimplifying the legislative process. John Kerry has served this country in uniform and in Congress, and he should be respected for it, not kicked in the stomach when he is down and already defeated.
