The Twins will win it all this year. The best pitcher in baseball, a lineup that's better than last year, a deep bullpen and playoff experience will be the difference.
The Angel's will come out of the West, the Yanks out of the East and the Indians will take the WC.
Dodgers in the West, Cards in the central, Braves out of the East and Marlins win the WC. Cards win the NL, only to fail to avenge 1987.
And the Twins, a team that was almost contracted in 2002, wll celebrate in the stadium that makes them "unable to compete".

Padres-Yankess meet in world series as a rematch of the 1998 affair--Padres sweep the Yanks, to repay the Yanks for spanking them in '98. Championship is first ever for a major sports team in San Diego (excluding Chargers in the old AFL), and the entirety of America's Finest City rejoices and thumbs their nose at all of the east coast biased media who still think San Diego is a suburb of LA (We're a city of 1.5 million and are 3 hours away, you jackasses!)

I have to laugh at you fans who slavishly pick your home town teams. Wishful thinking (unless you happen to be from NY or St.L.). I know it's fashionable to pick the Twins because they have Santana, but that didn't exactly work out for them last season, did it? Look for more of the same.
AL Yankees (yech, bleah) Twins Angels Wild Card: Sox, Red variety Yanks over Sox in ALCS
NL Braves (for the 106th consecutive season) Cardinals Padres Wild Card: Phillies Cardinals over Padres in NLCS
World Series: Yanks over Cardinals, and boy, do I hope I'm wrong.
By the way, I give credit to those of you picking AL teams other than the Yankees, Red Sox, Twins and Angels, since that's nothing more than a rerun of last season. But that's the way I see it. Go White Sox!

JoeHoya and HoyaRooter--just b/c it'd be unreasonable for your team to win it all, doesn't mean that it's unreasonable for the Twins to win it all.
The Twins have a pitching staff that can go toe to toe with the Yankees and provided Mauer and Morneau hit like they did last year in their limited time startins (35 games for Mauer, 2nd half of the season for Morneau) they have a deep enough lineup. Add in a quality bullpen and you have a team that can win it all if they're playing well.

Hey, while San Diego is my home town, and while obviously my decision to pick them as champions is somewhat influenced by my desire to see them as champions, they do have a very good team. The pitching staff should be terrific this year. I honestly think Jake Peavy, who had the lowest ERA in the majors last year, is at least as good as Santana. Our middle infield (Mark Lorretta and boy wonder Khalil Green) is the best in the majors, and if Phil Nevin, Brian Giles and Ryan Klesko play well, the Pads can beat anyone. Plus, we also have the best 7-8-9 relief squad in the majors. Scott Linebrink, Akinori Otska and Trevor Hoffman were the toughest combo to break in the majors last year. This team has the talent to take out anyone--even the "amazing" Cards, Yanks and Sox.

Memo to TBird and elrobbo: Dream on.
Actually, you will note that I picked both the Twins and Pads to win their divisions, and once you get to the playoffs, anything can happen. I did put the Padres in the NLCS, and happen to think they are being grossly underrated, as all the scribes seem to be talking about the Dodgers (God knows why - thanks alot, PDP) and the Giants (aka, the oldest team in baseball history; well, perhaps not, but I'll bet they are close). I think the Padres are clearly better than the Dodgers, and that Peavy is a Cy Young award waiting to happen.
