Saturday, Michael Irvin found out first hand of the growing anti-Cowboys bias on the Hall of Fame committee, joining these notable non-entrants: Calvin Hill, Cliff Harris, Ed Jones, Drew Pearson, Rayfield Wright, Bob Hayes, and Chuck Howley.
Does anyone realize that in 45 years, nine Super Bowls, and 5 titles, Dallas has been rewarded with only five players in the Hall of Fame who played primarily with Dallas (Bob Lilly, Roger Staubach, Tony Dorsett, Randy White, Mel Renfro.) FIVE?
And outside of Aikman and Emmitt Smith, how likely are 90's players like Darren Woodson, Charles Haley, Daryl Johnston, Larry Allen, and Erik Williams going to get in if Irvin can't?
Three Super Bowls, only two more Hall of Famers? No way.

Dunno about anybody else, but when I say "Michael Irvin", the words "first-ballot Hall of Famer" don't spring to mind.
Maybe someday, but not this year. I can't really quantify it, but it just doesn't seem right. Like "Rafael Palmeiro, first-ballot Hall of Famer" doesn't make sense. And this comes from an Oriole fan.

For some reason, the NFL Hall of Fame just doesn't do it for me. Not like baseball's at least. It has to do with requiring a certain amount of entrants each year (which dilutes it) and the fact that it's really hard to know who's good at certain positions (OL specifically). I can debate the best centerfielders of the last 15 years, but the best Centers? Now, I'm not saying there aren't problems w/ baseball's HOF (I like the Sport's Guys idea about making it a pyramid) but it's really the only one that has any real significance in my opinion

DFW's point is well taken in general, but I agree with Joe about Michael Irvin. I believe his time will come, but frankly (and perhaps I'm saying this because I like the Redskins), I feel that if Art Monk is still on the outside looking in, so should Irvin be.

To be fair, the Pats will have the same situation...I can't see more than 4...probably not even.
