Have to say I'm really excited for the games this weekend, especially after the great games last weekend (well that and the Vikes have a shot at making the Iggles fans cry) .
I've got the Falcons beating the Rams (St. Louis is in a dome, but its not their dome. Plus, the trendy underdog rarely wins)
Steelers will clean up against the Jets (the Jets just don't seem to have it against good teams-plus their having some problems w/ the flu this week)
Eagles will win a close one against the Vikes (Hopefully, it won't be embarrassing, but I can't pick the Vikes-they've reached the coveted status of team that you don't believe will win until they actually do, no matter who they are playing-joining the Cubs and filling hte spot vacated by the Red Sox)
Finally, in the marquee matchup, I see the Colts beating the Pats (the Pats secondary has too many injuries-but if the Pats keep it close, they'll win, b/c that's what there team is all about-doing everything right and pulling out games)

I think the Pats will win, not because their defense will be able to contain Peyton, but because the Colts will not be able to contain the Patriots offense. I don't understand why the media is ignoring the fact that:
Colts Top O vs. Pats Top 5 D (albeit injured) Pats Top 5 O vs. Colts Cellar Dwelling D (ableit many TOs)
Corey Dillon is a stud and TB has been playing well this year. The Pats have all their recievers back from injury, which has been a problem all year and was a huge problem last year in the playoffs...so for all the talk about how dinged up the Pats D is -- for once our O is in good health and absolutely dominating games.

Steelers over Jets, 24-10 Rams over Falcons, 28-23 Eagles over Vikings, 27-13 Colts over Patriots, 31-27 Eagles over Rams, 23-14 Colts over Steelers, 27-16 (Steelers won't be able to run the ball if they get behind, and I think Peyton Manning is just possessed by Marino, Elway, Unitas, and Montana all at the same time) Eagles vs. Colts in Super Bowl XXXIX (I refuse to make a pick, due to head vs. heart contradictions) **I reserve the right to alter these selections before, during, and after the games **

Corey Dillon for Gov. of Mass...anyone want to put him on a ticket with David Ortiz and Curt Schilling?

I got 3 of 4 right ;D and if I'd known it was going to snow in Foxboro, I definately wouldn't have picked the Colts

That was as dominant a playoff performance as you are going to see and it started with the Patriots offensive line having their way with the Colts D-line.

Now, what I'm saying is that the reason I picked the Colts is that I didn't think the Pats secondary could handle Manning and his WRs. SO, if I had known before hand that it would be snowing, the field would be covered in mud, snow and sleet, I would not have picked the Colts b/c the conditions would have mitigated their advantage, preventing them from turning the game into a track meet. Does that make sense? I'm not knocking the Pats performance, which was dominant, but I'm saying that if I had had the crucial bit of info about the conditions, I would have picked the Pats.

That's Dan's point, I believe...the conditions weren't really so bad. CBS kept focusing on the turf (probably because of what the Pats did - or didn't do - during the week), and the footing was excellent, all things considered. The Colts just got whooped.
Although I will say this...when they showed the stadium and said "Welcome to..." I screamed, "SNOW?! WHAT?!?! I swear, the Patriots must have developed a weather machine..." and then imagined Peyton Manning walking out of the tunnel, having deja vu, and collapsing to the ground sobbing.

CBS kept focusing on the turf (probably because of what the Pats did - or didn't do - during the week), and the footing was excellent, all things considered. The Colts just got whooped. Exactly. Manning wasn't all that bad. Although his receivers dropped some passes they should have caught those were more because they turtled than because of weather conditions. Besides, it's Foxboro in January - would a little snow be all that surprising? Also, perhaps surprisingly, the Pats secondary DID handle the Colts wide receivers and without playing the kind of defense that supposedly led to the new no chuck rules this year. They let them have short receptions then blasted them without allowing any runs after catches, which is where the Colts receivers make their living. The Pats safeties also took away the deep game. It was a great, and well-executed, game plan. Both of those latter things should not have been unexpected. Ron Borges summed up nicely what actually transpired: www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/articles/2005/01/17/they_turned_it_into_a_smash_hit/
