Watching paint dry is more interesting then this story. Its Vermont for crying out loud. Something about Vermont and Basketball don't mix.

What a joke, they talk about the scoring presence of the other team. It must not have been that good if they only scored 5 points. I've never heard of anything so ridiculous, how is that possible?

I'm not sure but I just thought this was a pretty disturbing story for HS basketball. The only thing I can think of is that they were trying to make the news. Congratulations, they acheived it.

I think they might want to consider using a shot clock at this point, we used one in high school on Long Island and its quite obvious that they need it in Vermont.

You can't score if you don't have the ball. Apparently, the bad team just held the ball, and the good team, already leading, had no desire to go after it.

Sounds like the old North Carolina four-corners.

Yeah, but I can't imagine any semi-decent team being content with a 2-0 lead and just not pressuring the ball. They should have forced the bad team to do something. By doing this they could have allowed themselves to lose 3-2, since I guess that is technically possible after this game.

I understand that the winning team's center led the offense with a single, a double and 3 RBI's.

Hey, there is nothing wrong with the 4 corners in high school basketball - it lets teams that can't really compete athletically have a shot at an upset. I don't think that high school should use a shot clock because I think the pressure of having a shot clock on will cause players to not run the offense.

There should definitely be some kind of a shot clock, even if its 60 seconds. If you can't run through your offense by that point you might as well hand the ball over and get back on defense.

60 seconds is fine - I would just get concerned if they went with 35. Also I checked and my first basketball game when I was in 1st grade in a YMCA league was a 8-6 affair ... just as a point of comparisson.

We had a 35 second shot clock in my league in high school and I guess at times it may have been a little too short, but I dont really think so. If we weren't able to set up our offense or run through it it was simply our fault for failing to execute it properly or that the other team was pressuring us very well, time didnt really have anything to do with it. Im all for the shot clock at 35 seconds.
