The Hoyas are running a split squad this weekend, some are at the Penn State National Open (the 2nd of 3 meets at PSU this winter) and some at Boston Univ.
The first completed event was the women's pentathlon. Buky Bamigboye was 2nd in this event, the first college participant with 3871 points, as she was 5th in the 55m hurdles (8.25 = 970 points), 8th in the HJ at 5'3.25" (747 pts), 5th in the SP with a throw of 35'3" (578 pts), 3rd in the LJ with 18'6.5" (744 pts), and 1st in the 800m with a time of 2:19.39 (832 pts).

Buky's mark was an NCAA provisional mark. Another provisional mark came from Melissa Grelli at the BU meet with a time of 16:21.98, which placed her as 2nd collegian and also the 2nd fastest college women of the year. Natasha LaBeaud finished in a time of 17:00.25. More details at guhoyas.cstv.com/sports/w-track/recaps/012607aaa.html

Geart run by Grelli and good run for Labeaud(she is close to an Ncaa quali and probably should get it next mo). Still kind of wonder why we are able to run good times across the board in the 5k on the track and do relatively poorly in XC.
On the flip side both the mens and women's dmr's were slow at Penn State--admittedly these are not our top guys

The women were really out of it in their heat - I think they trailed by about 45 s, so I am wondering if somebody fell or if they were just not competitive. Another result from Boston yesterday was Maggie Infield's 4th place finish (1st collegian, but she is redshirting the indoor season) in 4:50.67. Today at PSU 400m (w) 7. Alex Baptiste 57.10 1000m (m) 1. Dan Leyh 2:29.46 2. Kelvin Hill 2:29.72 200m (w) 17. Nichole Torpey 25.45 18. Sarah Wernik 25.55 1 Mile (m) 5. Dan Nunn 4:15.24 3000m 1. Dan Gerber 8:23.10 (won by ~ 2.5 s)
