Female version of the Paulus'. Equally despicable.

Wow, that one hurts. He's an attackman, exactly what we need. Oh well, to each his own.

Ugh. Coco seriously dropped the ball here.
If the Bratton twins from LI are as good as advertised (and they're advertised as the best high school players since...I don't know...Mike Powell?), UVa is going to be stacked for the next five years. Well, we'll have our chances, and we've been bringing in as much talent as anyone except for the Cavs.

No reason to blame anyone--Steele's comments in the announcement are pretty clear on this: "I can start my own thing in Virginia, not follow in the footsteps of anybody."
Hard to knock Virginia lacrosse--they are defending NCAA champions, have a great academic system, strong coaching staff, and appear to have put more into supporting lacrosse in recent years than has Georgetown.
Like the Paulus family, the Stanwicks have seen Georgetown up close, so I can understand if the sons (including Tad, who plays at Rutgers) also want to look elsewhere. Remember, PE Jr. was in the same boat three years ago and wanted to develop his own identity.
Losing Greg Paulus and not even being on the radar for Mike didn't get a lot of buzz on the basketball board, but should have. The family ties to GU were sufficiently close that both were big losses for Georgetown.

All fair points DFW. No one is required to go to GU. UVa is the premier lacrosse program in the nation right now, and maybe they were offering more of a ride than GU - point is, who knows? He's a 17 year old kid, and I dimly recall having something like my parents called an "independent streak" with forced smiles on their faces at that age, so who am I to judge?
Just to clarify, Mike Paulus is a QB who was widely recruited for D-IA, and ended up at UNC. It would have been exceptional had he turned down those opportunities for Georgetown, and I doubt the option was ever on the table. Greg...well, he chose at pretty much the nadir of Hoya hoops, so one can hardly blame him (though I do anyway) for heading to Duke. Nice player and a great family, but he would just be another cog for the Hoyas right now.

Tad did not choose Rutgers over GU---We did not offer him a spot. Still, I know we went after Steele hard, but as said above, UVa is a tremendous MLAX program. No fault there.
Conversely, I see noone mentioning that we landed Miles Kass when he was being heavily recruited by UVa while his brother Hunter was a Cavalier. I'm glad we have Miles, and I would say that it stings only a bit to lose Steele. Keep in mind we have Brancaccio now.
