The men finished 2nd to host W&M 30-46, running a B+ team, not the A team. Some good results that bode well for the future.
3. Levi Miller 24:03.2 (rs freshman was only beaten by two of the best runners in the east). 5. Justin Scheid 24:33 (starting to live up to his potential) 9. Michael Banks 24:56.5 (good job for a miler) 13. Owen Boyle 25:05.1 (didn't know he was this good!) 16. Sandy Roberts 25:09.8 (frosh's first race; sorry reformation, that shoots your theory; maybe they will just let him race this race and rs the rest of the season). 18. Brandon Bonsey 25:13.6 25. Rasheed Thompson 25:P25.2 42. Alex Bean 26:02.6 61. Scott Bastek 26:45.2
The women won with 42 points. More results later.

Nevada, Agree with your assessment. Outstanding run by RS freshman Miller, though we did suspect he would be very good. My theory is shot, I guess, though Gerber has not run, so it still may be partially intact. I also think that Roberts could still RS with one race. 25:00 is still pretty good for a true freshman's first outing, though I would have thought that he could do mid 24's on a comp to Bumby. I'm also surprised that Owen Boyle is that good too.

reformation, I think you are right that they can still redshirt Roberts with one race. We shall see. It looks as if they will redshirt Gerber. Owen Boyle, in his first XC race of the season, was 20 seconds behind Bean and 37 seconds behind Bonsey, so quite a drastic improvement. Good to see. I bet the practices are heating up. Dan Nunn has yet to debut this year. Must be that summer slumming around Europe that has put him out of shape. So we held out our first four in this meet, and still ran well. The women, as I mentioned won with 43 points. Again they were led by Elizabeth Maloy, who won the race in 21:34.3 for 6K (the men ran 8K). Other runners: 3. Melissa Grelli 21:54.3 (like Justin Scheid, she is starting to live up to her potential) 8. Maggie Infeld 22:18.9 (seems to be working her way back into shape) 11. Jennie Funk 22:32.7 (has been running well this season) 20. Kailin Collins 23:06.4 24. Joanna Rodgers 23:15.7 27. Renee Tomlin 23:22 38. Nana Hanson-Hall 23:41.2 51. Hillary Bontz 24:11.6 (must be studying too hard as a grad student ) 54. Amanda Walsh 24:14.6 58. Marcie Sobrinski 24:24.8 62. Lauren Gregory 24:46.3 72. Lise Ogrodnick 24:55 (must be XC season; it seems as if the Ogrodnicks do not run well in this season) 77. Chris Whalen 25:06.7 The women had their A team (almost); just Natasha LaBeaud and Avril Ogridnick were missing.

Maybe the O'Grodnick's are big partyers-either that or they have motivational/nerves/nagging injury issues-they are unbelievably inconsistent--Lise ran pretty well in the first meet of the year and ran a recreational time today. I don't think Avril has run yet this year. Its hard to say yet how the team will do or whether they will make NCAA's. Hilary Bontz also had a big drop off from her first outing.

From the William and Mary site:
#22 William and Mary Wins Colonial Inter-Regional
Tribe Upsets 13th-ranked Georgetown
09/30/06 4:55PM
WILLIAMSBURG - The 22nd-ranked William and Mary men’s cross country team dominated the field at the Colonial Inter-Regional today, cruising to a 16-point upset victory over No. 13 Georgetown.
They forgot to say that GU's top runners were held out. Figuring that conservatively Matt Debole and Bumbi would finish 3rd and 4th, then GU's score is 30 and W&M drops to 38, and the Hoyas win. I think the pollsters figure this into their voting which runners were held out. W&M seemed to be a full strength. And I didn't even figure Dan Nunn into the equation, so the ratings are about right and GU should not fall, because of this meet. They might be down to 14th, since Oregon, which was 15th won a big multi-school race in Eugene this weekend and will probably vault ahead of the Hoyas. But #6 Texas ran poorly (I don't know whether they ran their A team), so they might drop a bit.
