Today at 6pm at the University of Towson just outside of Baltimore MD the Hoyas will take on the Tigers in their final preseason tune up before the regular season starts next weekend at the DC college cup this year being hosted by American University. I'll return with another recap. I've got my trust pen and pad in hand. Sorry for not getting this up earlier. Neither school has issued a release on tonights game. The tigers have been picked to finish 7th in a very competitive CAA in their preseason poll and finished up last year with a 10-6-3 record and a 5th place finish.

Sorry for not getting this up earlier. Ha, are you kidding me? No need to apologize, your previews and recaps are well appreciated. In fact, in loose SAT analogy form: Men's basketball:FLHoya Men and women's track & field/cross country: NevadaHoya Men's soccer: HoyaSinceBirth Even though I don't always post responses, I read your stuff, it's always good and thorough. Keep it up. And see you on the Hilltop soon.

Yes, HSB, thanks for the reviews about soccer. It only seems as if nobody is paying any attention sometimes, but the board members are avid Hoya fans of any sport. Thanks for the analogy, CA.

Georgetown 1 Towson 1
The Team saved it's best stuff for the very last possible second to squeeze a tie out of an overall dissapointing performance against the Tigers. On the very last possesion of the Game a long through ball was played to Senior forward Ricky schramm who chipped the Towson keeper to even up the score. The final whistle was blown as soon as the tigers took the kick off on the following play.
On this outing the Hoyas looked better in the first half than in the second. The defense made a simillar mistake that led to a goal in the virginia game and this mistake had the same result putting Towson up 1-0 aproximately 15 minutes into the game ( they didn't have ascoreboard running). Despite towson's lead on the score board it was georgetown that was having the better of the chances. The hoyas had 3-4 very good oppertunities to score that should have been finished by hoya strikers but their shots failed to find the target.
Towson Played the second half much more aggressively and jus tlooked like they wanted to win much more the hoyas who were out husteled. The Tigers dominated play for most of the second half with the hoyas only able to form a few effective counter attacks. Although you wouldn't know it by the scoring summary the team that scored in a half actually played worse in that half with the goals being scored against the run of play.
It's still preseason technically but this was not an encouraging sign for the Hoyas. Cause the season officially starts a week from today and no longer can we use the fact that it's a scrimmage as defense for poor results on the pitch. The team is still obviously coming together and hasn't gelled completely yet. It's hard when a new coach comes in and institutes a new system. the team has been heavily focusing on Defense in the preseason and has barely even begun to focus on the offensive side of their game. This shows through in their play where the offense is at times lacking and predictable. The Hoyas are more talented team than they showed today. It seems they've been progressively playing worse in these preseason scrimmages. Hopefully the Hoyas will turn it around to defend the Craig Tartasky Trophy at the D.C College Cup which takes place next friday and sunday at american university.
