www.laxpower.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18218So, as rumored, two bigtime Duke recruits jumped ship to the Hoyas - Craig Dowd and Scott Kocis. Kocis, first, was the star for Huntington which had a top 5 team this year and he is widely considered one of the best couple middies in the nation (Newday's Long Island POY). So he can play. Dowd is also a stud, and he was MVP of the Under Armor game with five goals. Throw these two in with our already nasty class and most people think it's the top group in the nation. Also excellent is that Davis, the goalie recruit, was excellent in the UA game too. The thread above is a long discussion of a lot of these kids, interspersed with inane arguments from Hopkins fans who may well rival Duke fans in terms of overall annoying-ness. Anyway, the Gtown prep kid, Broncaccio won the Kelly Award for best player in Maryland and DC, and he's also considered one of the better middies in the nation. Everything looks bright. Kocis and Bronco are both over 6'4'', so we're going to be massive in the midfield with Wilson, Kahoe, and D'Agnes. If we can find a goalie to step up and some consistent shooters, this could well be the year we break through. The future definitely looks bright.

I know I've beat this drum before, but I saw this about Merrill in an ESPN article about the recent world championships where Canada (and Brodie) took the gold over the USA:
"Canada's defenders joined the rush. They flew up and down the field. Brodie Merrill is the biggest difference between this team and Canada's squads of 1994, 1998 and 2002. He's the best player in the game."
That's sort of cool, right? During my time at Georgetown, I hung out with Brodie - who's possibly the best lacrosse player in the world right now - and Chris Lukezic - who may be the best American miler in the world. Doing Georgetown proud.
