Women's Lacrosse NCAA: #3 Georgetown opens AT Monmouth.
According to CSTV, the NCAA has docked Georgetown all home games in the tournament as a result of some undisclosed action at last year's tournament.
More soon.

Eager to find out what this is all about. Some sort of discipline violation for Georgetown? Could it be poor attendance/revenue or something? Anybody who was there have any ideas?

I do not know precisely what the violation was, but it was purely administrative, ala they did a poor job of organizing last year's home game. Nothing overt and nothing that the team itself had control over. As far as the game goes, Monmouth has played very few even mediocre teams -- and they lost most of those games -- but that probably won't stop the game from being a close one like all of Georgetown's others.

Lax committee activities are some of the most shady I have ever seen. NWU drops to a #4 seed despite being no. 1 nationally and georgetown is a #3 seed on the road for committing some violation that nobody will announce?!?! A LITTLE transparency would be nice, guys.
what garbage.

What a way to punish a team that has worked so hard to be one of if not the most successful team on campus, and who has worked long hours day and night to get where they are today. If it really is an administrative thing, then that's just embarrassing for the University. These girls deserve much better. Just win the whole [Edited] thing anyway.

I guess the fact that the athletic administration that committed the undisclosed sin is no longer around didn't factor into the committee's decision. Whatever the mistake of last year's administration was, I doubt Muir & Co. will repeat it.

This is pure speculation, but I remember the home playoff game last year was broadcast live via internet stream on GUHoyas.com. Was that against the rules? Is that what this is all about?

Why punish us for an undisclosed infraction a year later? This makes no sense. The next capital campaign apparently needs to focus on bribing NCAA Lax Committee members.

Austin---The same administration is in charge now. Bernard Muir was hired before the tourney started. The only change in personnel is the new Associate AD for Sport Administration, and not everyone feels that hire was a good one. The theory of telecasting a game where rights are involved sounds like a legit possibility. I do know that we are not allowed to webcast certain contests carried by other entities.

The two theories people have "heard" on the Laxpower boards were something to do w/ not reserving enough hotels for the visiting team (which even the guy who wrote it said makes no sense cause the visiting team was Towson), and playing the opening round game last year on a field that wasn't within regulations somehow. Who knows what it really is...but it's a crap penalty to have to deal with.

Actually even if the team is Towson for NCAAs they would stay down here. Men's lax is going to be playing at towson if they make it to QFs and they are staying in Baltimore the night before. Might be different for the women but i doubt it. Whatever it is, if its that small then yeah somebody in the NCAA has something against Georgetown Lax.

I thought Muir was hired during the summer. I also thought there had been more turnover within the athletic dept. -- perhaps I was just thinking of the coaching turnover.
