Will be interesting to see the 4 X800 splits. Hopefully its a lowpoint for this event for Gtwn and next yr will bring a steady uptrend; a 1:53 avg split is definitely very weak for a program like Gtwn--probably the only disappointing event for Gtwn at Penn-still a bit surpried that we didn't really address this weakness in the men's recrtg.

So I assume the U.S. Army runners are part of the active-duty permanent party Army sports program (like the Boxing Team that's at Ft. Carson and used to be at Ft. Huachuca) rather than the Academy?

TigerHoya, that is usually the case. There is a famous case of a top notch racewalker, who was affiliated wtih the US Army, who trained in Chula Vista at the US Olympic training center. His goal was to make the Olympics in the 50K, and he had a good chance to do it (top three at the trials and sub-4 hour 50K). Well, he took the lead and pushed it too early and did not make it. He was so distraught about this, and, rumor had it, the chance of getting shipped to Iraq, that he went out and jumped off a bridge. Didn't know him too well, but I gave up my place in the massage line for him after one race. Very tragic.
