In one of the big races the Hoyas finished 6th in the DMR, running a good race, as they beat Stanford and Villanova. Texas won for the first time. Their miler running the anchor leg won the NCAA 1500m outdoor championship; this was the race Chris Lukezic was supposed to win, but tried to run away with the race, but the pack caught him and the Texas guy had the best finish.

The Hoyas were 3rd after the first leg (good one for Debole), 3rd after the 2nd (another good one for Kenny Mitchell, who rarely runs the 400), 4th after the 3rd leg (decent run by Chris Bonner), and 6th at the end (Rod Koborsi caught some runners, but others caught him; since he is not predominantly a miler, his 4-minute split was great as many of the others were true (like the Darthmouth guy) milers.

I would think that the men + women would have to be happy with their relay performances for a couple of reasons: 1)The mens's dmr all seem to have run well, pr's or close and probably could have one it with Lukezic. 2)Women showcased their depth with 400m specialists stepping up to run great 800m times, they probably would have gotten third if Maggie Infeld was not redshirting 3)Kenny Mitchell showed up big as a 400 runner in the DMR, bodes well for the future 4)In the 4 X Mile, I agree with Nevada, Bumby could run faster if he had not just come off training for the world cross, but GU was probably the fastest purely American team. Other teams loaded with Irish, Canadian, Kenyan, Austarilian internationals.

Reformation, I completely agree with your point number one - I definitely think we could have won with Chris. Imagine if we still have Chris and Tommy Manning still had eligibility - we could have had Chris Bonner run the 400 in 47.x, Tommy running the 800 at 1:48.xx, and Chris Lukezic running a 3:56.xx leg. That surely gets us #1. Sigh!
I hadn't thought of it - that we had the fastest purely American team in the 4x1mile. How about that!
Georgetown grad and current GU assistant coach Monica Hargrove was on the world best setting sprint medley relay team:
