in the new Inside Lacrosse Poll. That's gotta be a new all-time high for men's lacrosse, right? I can't remember us being ranked higher than #3 or 4 in the last five years or so. www.insidelacrosse.com/page.cfm?pagerid=2&news=fdetail&storyid=119566We beat out Hofstra for the #2 slot by a single point. UVA's #1 by a lot, as they should be. Two ranked teams left on the regular season schedule--#10 UMass and #17 Penn State, although the other three opponents are ARV. EDIT: We're #3 in the Coaches Poll, behind UVA and Hofstra.

We were #3 in the coaches' poll in 2003 -- that's the highest I can remember. We're #3 in that poll this week, by the way, behind UVA and Hofstra.
Speaking of polls, UMass's loss at Penn State this weekend dropped them to 10th. Would really like to see the Minutemen finish strong -- they are currently the only top 10 opponent left on our schedule.

Both rankings are record-highs, as per the GUHoyas.com article.

I am so happy with this. Without wanting to get ahead of myself but doing it anyway, wins over the ranked guys would give us two home playoff games, and then (when the curse finally breaks, which it will, I believe in them) a trip up north. UMCP or Navy should host the tournament at some point, they both have huge stadiums and good facilities and it would be like an hour trip.

Only the first round of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament is held at campus sites. The Quarterfinals are held at two set venues--this year they would be Towson and Stony Brook. You can play at your home stadium in a QF though if you're a host, Hopkins did it last year. You'll get one of your wishes next year--Navy is a host for one set of QFs, and the Final Four is back at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.

Sorry if someone posted this a long time ago, but does anyone know who won the scrimmage between GU and UVA? Score?

I don't remember score but I'm pretty sure we were down by 4. If anyone has other info please correct me.

We lost by a half dozen.
Scrimmages aren't too great of a predictor though considering a. our teams always start slow and peak towards the final weeks of the season and b. some coaches care about them, others simply don't. I'm not sure of each of our coaches philosophies but I know we've gotten better and UVA has probably gotten even better (they're a frickin' machine right now).

my roommate is a uva alum and he told me last night that there are rumors of a possible uva-gtown lax game being set up to replace each team's duke forfeit. i guess he saw this on a uva board or something? has anybody heard anything about this? he says the game would be played at gtown, which would be amazing.

Thanks. I was just curious...scrimmages aren't that great of an indicator, but they say something about the two teams.
a gtown-uva game would be amazing. especially if it's here

www.laxpower.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15212&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=20Here's a thread on laxpower that suggests it's at least feasible for us to add another game. Hopkins just did so, hastily scheduling and beating MSM. However, even with the Duke non-game, we have a 12 game schedule, which means it may not work. I don't know, and I'm not interested in digging through the NCAA bylaws to find out. That would be awesome, if it happened. But neither UVa or us really NEED such a game to secure good seeding.

After another ranked-team win by the women's team last night (11-10 over the #6/#7 Twerps in overtime), we could be seeing a pair of Hoya teams in the 2-spot of next week's rankings.
