Gtown wont get a win for the Duke game. Wonder if it is only fair that they get reimbursed for travel and hotel accomodations now. The games will be considered "no contest"
"As a result, the games Duke had scheduled against Georgetown and Mt. St. Mary’s will not officially count towards either team’s record and will statistically result as if the games had never been scheduled"

As troubling as that is, I am hoping that since D1 lacrosse has relatively few teams as compared to other D1 sports, the selection committee will take this into account.

It does suck and it's unfair, but we still have games at Navy and against UMass and if we don't get a high seed it's our own fault. We have enough ammunition left on our schedule to go in as a top 5 team.
9-3 over MSM in the first half.

I really don't see any other way to have gone about it. The selection committee would probably not have taken into account us "beating" Duke anyways considering the circumstances, so might as well have it erased off the books. Lets just win the games we do get to play.

See, here's what I don't get though:
Doesn't that benefit Duke immensely?
In GTown's case, we lose a 1-0 forfeit "win" that, while it added a W to our record, nobody in the NCAA Selection Committee was going to take seriously when figuring out seedings. And the other posters are right--we've got chances left for quality W's (like, oh, Saturday for one) and...really...a chance to head into the NCAA's with a pretty darn good record.
But Duke gets TWO losses scrubbed off their record (which WILL make a tangible impact on their seeding...the tournament committee does use some variation of an RPI if I recall correctly, and having even a forfeit loss to a now 2-6 Mt. St. Mary's would be pretty devastating). And, like some of the people in the Laxpower forum said...this wasn't a forfeit due to an act of God that prevented the game from occurring/Duke from appearing...the administration was in effect punishing the Duke players for something they were alleged to have done wrong.
So I guess, small minus for us, BIG PLUS for Duke...and who knows what exactly they did to deserve THAT.

Can the powers that be count the L's for Duke, but no W's for GU/MSM? As irrational as that may sound, it seems like that would best replicate the way the selection committee would look at this situation. BTW, final score GU 17, MSM 7.

Well, Duke's now officially "suspended" the lacrosse season...who knows if that'll end up being permanently or not.
Nice game today btw, I caught the first half. Pretty dominant performance...nice stuff on the offensive end (little too easy actually).

I can't believe that the selection committee would not take into acount the actions off the field for Duke when it comes to letting them into the tournament or seeding them.

This is somewhat unprecedented in NCAA Division 1 sports for teams to forfeit games. Much like President Brodhead alluded to in his press conference, this is unchartered territory. With games against Hopkins and Virginia that will most likely not be played, there is no way the Selection Committee does not take this into account. This could perhaps be the biggest story in college lacrosse's history.
