We got on the board today, beating SJU 9-5. We went up 5 early, and then got an illegal stick penalty which the Redmen turned into 2 goals. From there it was pretty sloppy, but GU controlled the action. As per usual, we made the opposing goalie look amazing. How many goalies have career days against Georgetown? At some point, we may have to consider the problem is on our side. Anyway, Miles Kass was good again, and since we had it in hand early, there's no point bemoaning the score. We have a ton of tough games in the near future, so we better be clicking soon.
I noticed a couple more freshman getting action today, which is a good thing. Jordan Loftus (sp?) looked pretty good, I thought. And Brendan Cannon is definitely the most talented offensive player we've had since Walid Hajj, and he could be the best attack since Dusseau.
BTW, hoya4ever is spot on. We're certainly capable of beating Maryland, just as we're capable of winning a national championship. The program is good enough to make that our goal. Obviously, it's more realistic some years than others, but that's the philosophy behind the scheduling and its the right one. I wasn't able to make it, but I'd imagine A LOT of good local lacrosse players were in the house for the matchup, and that's great.
