If the team keeps improving, Georgetown may have a shot at the BE indoor T&F meet. They have expanded the events in which they compete. Also, BE indoor meet has the additional middle distance runs that GU is good at. Let's hope the team stays well and builds on this weekend's results.

Agree that both men and women have had pretty good showings--the men seem to be long on distance types and short on their traditional specialty, i.e., elite 800m types. I'm not sure that the men have the right mix to do well at the 4X800 or DMR at Penn, NCAA's as they have done in the past, though they have a lot of guys who are truly elite at 3k+--Hopefully recruiting will address the balance.(obviously Lukezic's departure left a big hole)

Yes, the 4x800 team seems down this year, at least for a title at Penn. The DMR actually has a better chance IMO. The only 'elite' guy we have in the 800 is Tommy Manning, and I am not sure he has eligibility outdoors. Lukezic's departure left a big hole, but so did Jaworski's leaving after freshman year.

The usual suspects are at Yale this weekend for a two-day meet. Only have this result:
School Finals ================================================== ============== 1 Georgetown University 'A' 9:43.56 2 Pennsylvania, University of 'A' 9:44.20 3 Providence College 'A' 9:44.64 4 Yale University 'A' 9:47.63 5 Southern Connecticut State U. 'A' 9:54.68 6 Saint Joseph's University 'A' 9:58.17 7 Boston College 'A' 10:06.95 8 Quinnipiac University 'A' 10:11.45
Penn has Courtney Jaworski, a frosh at Georgetown then transferred, running the 800 for them. I don't know the composition of the DMR for the Hoyas yet.

Women won the DMR easily--though time and comp were so so. The women probably have a more balanced dmr + 4X 800 than the men this yr.
On a side note I was at the Millrose meet in NYC last night and there was a great HS girl runner from NJ that won the HS mile in a great time is a junior Danielle Truro--hopefully GU has a shot at getting her. The top boys runner is unfortunately heading to Duke. Lukezic was scheduled to run against Lagat and Bekele in the 1500 but did not appear.
Women's DMR result:
School Finals ================================================================ 1 Georgetown University 'A' 11:16.34 2 Pennsylvania, University of 'A' 11:32.83 1) 121 Kim, Claire SO 2) 107 Carlin, Jesse SO 3) 130 Morrison, Christina JR 4) 122 Kim, Stacy SO 3 Georgetown University 'B' 11:33.53 4 Yale University 'A' 11:45.46 5 Quinnipiac University 'A' 12:05.65 6 Sacred Heart University 'A' 12:32.21 7 Saint Joseph's University 'A' 12:38.53

Reformation, I miss going to the Millrose games. My father and I would go into MSG to meet my uncle, who was moderator of the GU track team. It was always like a three ring circus, with so many events going on at once. Maybe that has changed, but the Wanamaker mile still is the draw. How did you like Tim Seaman in the mile walk - he beat Dave McGovern (both of them were in the race with me three weeks ago in San Diego, Tim pacing one of the women in the 20K and Dave doing the 30K) by 45 seconds. The only Americans who could give Tim a run (walk) for the money are Kevin Eastler and John Nunn, both who did the 30K, but were not trained for the mile. Too bad Chris didn't run. I hope he didn't get hurt last week in Boston.
That would be great if GU can get Danielle. Seems like somebody GU would go after.

Besides Tommy Manning's near Auto qualifier, there were at least three provisional NCAA qualifiers among the women: Maggie Infeld and Elizabeth Maloy both beat the 4:47.0 to 4:47.6 qualifier in the mile and Nana Hanson-Hall beat the 2:09.0 to 2:09.4 provisional qualifier in the 800m.

Manning's time was the fastest 800 ever run at the Yale track. Strong outing from the men and women mid distance folks. The freshman women especially seem to be doing pretty well indoors. Wondering somewhat why Bumbi is being redshirted for indoors and whether he will redshirt the whole yr.

I was wondering yesterday is Bumbi is being redshirted for the outdoors. I have read about his being redshirted, but that hasn't been qualified. I was especially pleased with Christine Whalen yesterday and her 2:10. The Ogrodnicks have been coming on the indoor season; probably had the freshman blues durning XC, but now they are running well. Good to hear about Tommy's breaking the Yale track record.

Nevada, Do you know if Koborsi has any indoor eligibility left? Also is Bumby being redshirted for the indoor season-whole yr? I heard that Rod Koborsi is training well and will run (5000m?) this weekend.

Rod ran, but didn't get the auto or even provisional time for the NCAA that he was hoping for. In fact, that puts him just third on the team behind Dan Nunn and Fleet Hower:

Results for the NYU fastrack meet:
800m 8. Mike Billington 1:57.38
3000m 9. Mike Banks 8:25.42
LJ 3. Jesse Patterson 6.72m
5000m 1. Fleet Hower 14:08.31 DNF Mike Kirsch, Mike Banks, Andre Laboy
Looks like the 5000m was a race to try for the auto mark for the NCAAs for Fleet. Kirsch, Banks, and Laboy were probably rabbits. Fleet has run faster earlier in the season.
