The regional meet will be at Lehigh. This is a chance for the Hoyas to get some redemption for the last trip to Lehigh (the football team's loss). They have to be in the top two to get an automatic berth into the NCAAs. The men should have no trouble, even if they do not finish 1 or 2, they should be taken as an at large team. But, they should win this meet. The women, on the other hand, almost have to finish 1 or 2 to make it. Since they are ranked 27th, they may get an at large bid, but it will be chancey. The Hoya site has more details: guhoyas.collegesports.com/sports/m-track/spec-rel/111105aaa.html

First reports indicate an easy win for the men.
georgetown 45 american 93 princeton 97 lasalle 114
Individual top 10:
hower quigley jaworski millioen macreery nightingale mazocco ? bair nunn
So three Hoyas in the top 10, including Fleet, who aparently won it. I don't know about Debole; maybe he was the question mark. #3 Jaworski was a Hoya for his freshman year. He will be the best 800m man in the East, if not the country this year.
The women's race, I hear, is close. I think the Hoyas and Villanova are battling for the second spot with Princeton in first.

Women's race: Princeton, Villanova, Georgetown. Thus we don't get the automatic bid into the NCAAs and have to wait for an at-large bid, which is possible, but dicey. Liz Maloy has been injured again, but ran today.

Early women's scores:
Princeton 64 Villanova 98 Georgetown 103 LaSalle Maryland
The fact that we just missed by 5 points and have beaten Villanova (an NCAA team) twice this year is fuel for an at-large bid for us.

The women's results for the seven Hoya runners today:
5. Maggie Infeld 20:43.4 15. Elizabeth Maloy 21:09.7 17. Erin Henry 21:12.4 30. Joanna Rodgers 21:36.0 36. Sabine Knothe 21:44.4 41. Lise Ogrodnick 21:57.7 50. Kim Malcolm 22:00.9
There was a rumor that Elizabeth would not run today. Obviously, if she had been healthy, she could have improved on her 15th place finish, but I think it is an outstanding performance, considering her condition. Good race by Joanna.
If the Hoyas are not picked for an at-large bid, at least Maggie will go as an at-large individual runner.

The men's results:
1. Fleet Hower 30:03.8 (4:51/mile pace) 4. Charlie Millioen 30:10.4 (4:52) 10. Dan Nunn 30:42.9 (4:57) 13. Michael Krisch 30:49.5. (4:58) 17. Chris Esselborn 30:57.8 (5:00) 26. Andre Laboy 31:14.2 (5:02)
Outstanding race by all the Hoyas. Fleet obviously deserves congratulations for winning the race. Charlie had an extremely up and down career at GU. He had been a Footlocker finalist as a HS student, but injuries and such kept him from his potential. He is having a very good senior year, and his 4th today proves it. Dan Nunn, the PanAm junior 5000m winner adds to his resume. Michael Krisch in 13th was the best finish by our freshmen, maybe any frosh in the race. Andre ran a solid 26th. You may notice that only six runners are listed, as teams are allowed seven teams. It appears that one person got sick or injured at the last moment. That is probably Matt Debole. If he were there, it would have been more dominant for the Hoyas.

Looks like the men are really building well this season. imagine if Lukezic + Jaworski + Bumby were running--we'd be looking at a natl cahmpionship!
bad luck again for liz maloy + the women. Looks like her injury cost the team a trip to the NCAA's. NCAA looks unlikely again +freshman are not really contributing.

Yes, and if Koborsi had eligibility for XC, instead of track this year, we would look extremely good. Although, on a national level Wisconsin and Arkansas are scary.
The women frosh have not really stepped up this year, but the women have a young team and good potential. I think NCAAs are possible this year.

The women were chosen as one of the 13 at-large teams. Thus, both men and women will be in Indiana a week from tomorrow. ;D

Elizabeth Maloy keeps a running journal at the ChasingTradition website. Unfortunately, I am not a member. Here are the first few lines from the Nov. 18 entry: Elizabeth Maloy, Entry #2 - Elizabeth Maloy, Georgetown So Regionals did not go as well as I would have liked and I definitely felt responsible for the team not automatically qualifying for the NCAA meet - but it all worked out in the end. Tom Petty’s song “It’ll All Work Out” seems to be my theme song for the season; everything will ... Insider Access Required Seems as if Ndak should write her a song.
