I was reading about Pots 'n Spoons in the archives of the hoya when I realized what great publicity that must have been for the club. I think Hoya Blue should invite one of the Sports writers from The Hoya to a game and suggest he cover the fan base in his next artical. If we get as much praise as Pots 'n Spoons did attendance will go up. I feel that it would be much better publicity than letters to the editors scolding/pleading/asking people to go to the games. Imagine if we had someone from the Hoya at last fridays game. Anyways just a thought.

All of that's good stuff--I think it would make for a good article. Heck, I got 10,000 words of Generation Burton stuff out of three days of Hoya Blue events, and I had a great time doing it. And the Hoya Hooligans didn't really even exist at the soccer game I went to! And any kind of information you can throw out in The Hoya asking people to come to events is cool. You could probably, rather than always writing letters, ask the Editors if you could have some free ad space to publicize your events.
You wouldn't have to ask, really, to get a writer from The Hoya at games. My roommate Jon did the women's soccer articles for The Hoya the year before last. One of the soccer writers for The Voice lived in the same apt. as my girlfriend that year, and she in turn was frequently visited by the other soccer writer for The Hoya. I went to a lot of games with Jon, and all three of them were at pretty much every game. You can usually tell who they are--think spiral notepad.
Point is the writers with the soccer beat are already at pretty much every game, and they'd prob. love to talk with you guys and try to work some notes into the story. Besides, they're probably huge fans of the sport as it is if they chose (or even were assigned to) that beat. I know Jon used to work real hard trying to get interesting quotes from players or anything to make his articles seem less boring. You can only do "so and so scored in the 57th minute as Georgetown beat somebody 1-0" so many times.
You could try to get one of the sports columnists to do a feature; maybe even a story writer to feature the origin of the Hoya Hooligans.

The sports writers are generally at the games covering the action on the field. What'd be good, though, would be to get an article written about the increased fan support. Something to let the student body know that something unique is going on up at the soccer games, and it looks like a good time. A picture or two of the crowd going crazy after a goal or something wouldnt hurt either. Anything to let the casual GU sports fan know that a number of people are going to watch soccer now, and theyre having a great time.
