The women had their second meet of the year at James Madison today, and I think there is a lot to cheer about. First, and foremost, even though we lost to the home team of JMU (26-30), five of the seven runners were freshman, and one was a transfer. The only returning Hoya, is the next thing to get excited about, as Elizabeth Maloy returned to the lineup, finishing 2nd. She and the JMU winner were far in front of everybody, so Elizabeth looks like she is back. May she stay healthy this year. This was a totally different team than ran last week, so the women are showing signs of the their depth.
2. Elizabeth Maloy 19:10.10 4. Lise Ogrodnick 19:50 5. Kalin Collins 20:01.8 8. Avril Ogrodnick 20:24 11. Joanna Rodgers (transfer from NCSt) 21:03.9 20. Jessie Hale 22:04.1 23. Chris Whalen 22:09.4

Hope you're right nevada re: e maloy. The times were slow and this was basically a dual meet against james madison--i don't think we'll really know where the team stands until another meet or two.

Yes, the times were slow, even for a 5.1K course. It is interesting that Avril had the better times in HS than Lise (at least, that's how guhoyas.com is reporting), and Lise beat Avril by quite a bit. Yes, we will probably have to wait until pre-nationals to tell where we are.
Guhoyas.com had the results before I posted them (I got them from the JMU site), so they are getting better in their timeliness. The men had this meet on their schedule, but the story at JMU had only the women running.

avril was a superstar in hs, and a bit fater than her sister, but did not do much at the end of her senior yr--wonder if she's been injured
