It's obvious that we need to advertise more for these events, but the first week was a special situation due the amount of stuff we had to do in such a short period of time. We were a bit overwhelmed trying to get Hoya Blue running and it we didnt exactly have unlimited amounts of time to flyer. Once we get settled in and have an official board in place the advertising will pick up and hopefully it will be as succesfull as the events themselves have been so far. Sorry for a) double posting and b) taking things a bit off topic, but how about promotions/flyers for this week? We have the field hockey game coming up this weekend, and we could probably use some flyering for that (not to mention a brilliant marketing idea, if anybody has one )... I was also thinking maybe a banner of some sort to encourage the football team vs. Holy Cross. Since they take everything down on Sunday (I think) putting something up in Red Square or near Leos in the next couple days would make sense. It'd be good to let the football team know that we appreciate what we did at Bucknell and that we are rooting for them; but more than that, it'd be good to catch the attention of the common student and let him/her know that the team is 1-0 and is playing an away game this week.... It's that sorta thing that contributes to the "sports culture" we all want, IMO. If people are talking about it, hanging banners, and whatever else, thats great for us. Anything that makes GU sports a topic of conversation is good.

Is there anyway we could also put sports events in a newsletter and send it out each monday or something? We have a student affairs one already, right? Could we maybe just add it into that? It would let a lot of people know whats going on, especially the frosh because they still read that...

Put my reply in the thread "Hoya Blue moving forward" - because I think we're getting way off topic here and its better served to discuss it under the HB section.

The Hoya has an article, which contains some information about Purdy from American.
"While the victory over the rival Eagles was a cause for celebration for the Hoyas, an injury to AU freshman defender Philip Purdy cast a dark shadow on the day. Early in the second half, Purdy collided with Georgetown defender Peter Grasso near the Hoyas’ 18-yard box and did not get back up. According to American University officials, Purdy was briefly unconscious on the field and, once awake, could not feel his arms or legs.
Trainers from both teams stabilized Purdy, and after about 20 minutes he was taken off the field in an ambulance by GERMS. By the time he was taken off the field, he was speaking but still had not regained feeling in his extremities. Purdy was taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a concussion. Further tests have all come back negative, and he was released from the hospital earlier this week.
Although the injury was serious, Purdy is expected to fully recover and could be back with his team as soon as next week. "

From what my friend told me (the one who had a friend on the AU team), Purdy had lost feeling/movement in his limbs, but only temporarily. Basically, when hewas hit, his spine swelled, so he lost feeling, but he should have it recovered relative soonly.
