Looks like Jeff Green outplayed another one of his "competitors" for BE rookie of the year.
Green: Jeff Green 5-11 FG 1-4 3pt 5-8 FT 16PTs 10 Rebounds.
Ollie Bailey: 2-5FG 0-03pt 0-1FT 4PTs
Someone explain to me again why Green isn't the favorite for BE rookie of the year? And the fact that he's arguebly our MVP should go into consideration. I don't think any of the other freshman matter as much to their team as Green does to the Hoyas.

He's probably the favorite now. But everybody on earth had Rudy Gay as maybe the best frosh in the country before the season started, so I don't think its exactly crazy that that's who the BE coaches picked preseason.

big dog you're right of course, but still a bit surprised that green is not getting more love nationally - he is having some special games, and not just good numbers but IMPACT stats...i mean 5 blocks - good God - one of them on douby for a sure snowbird tonight too

So he's outplayed Gay head-to-head and now Bailey. Who's left?!? If he keeps this up, he HAS to win it. I mean c'mon... at this rate not giving it to him would be like when Bell won BE POY over Sweets... a HUGE travesty to anyone who follows the game.
GO HOYAS!!!

I think you have to consider that Gay is not expected to do as much. That being said, if Jeff keeps it up I think he will get recognized. Bailey's moves were pretty rugged and I think all three, Bailey, Green & Gay, will have a good run in the BE.

Like Gay, he is not asked to do as much as Green, but look out for Sean Williams of BC in any BE ROY consideration so long as he can stay on the team. He put up quite a performance vs. PC the other day from what I hear, and showed a fair amount v. UConn as well.

Really, though... is Rookie of the Year based on subjective talent, or on in-game performance?
If it's the latter, then Jeff should definitely be the favorite at this point.

Right now, it really does look like its shaping up to be a 3 way battle between Jeff, Gay and Williams - being from Boston and reading the Boston papers, Williams has been a real presence on the team, especially in the UConn game, where he played significant minutes with Smith on the bench in foul trouble. I think you have to give the nod now to Jeff, though, because his role is much larger for the team itself, than either Gay or Williams. Plus, lets face it - Gay sucks.

Sean Williams? He's like the third most important big guy on his own team. He had 16 points against a lousy Providence squad and suddenly he's entered the fray? No way folks, no way.
Quick quiz: Who are these two stat lines?
5.2ppg 4.6rpg 2.9bpg 19.5 minutes 5.2ppg 4.0rpg 1.6bpg 16.5 minutes
Answer: The bottom is Roy Hibbert, the top is "I had one good game, now I'm in BE ROY running" Sean Williams.
Green's challengers re still Gay and Bailey but he is far out in fron of both right now, no question.

Green has been unbelievable so far, just everything we could possibly ask for. He plays (usually) so smart, you would never know he was a freshman. Carry on, Jeffrey.
