Chris will be down in Arkansas running the 3000m against a top notch field. Treniere will be also down there running the 800m again against tough competition.

Great indoor 800 time for Treniere, so-so time for Lukezic. Lukezic needs to get stronger in order to be more competitive at the intl elite level-he already has plenty of speed. I think he could have benefitted from his senior XC season at Gtwn

Reformation, I agree that the main thing lacking for Chris is his distance/strength. He has plenty of speed. I think that is what separates him from Alan Webb right now. Alan is a very good XC runner and has a good 5000m time to his credit. Yes, it would have been great to have him for XC season this year. He and Bumbi would have made the Hoyas top 10 (top 5?).

Some more information about the 3000m last night from one of the running boards:
Also Lincolns 749 is much more impressive then it sounds. The race went out in 359 for 1600 and Lincoln stayed with the pace! Boaz, cragg and lincoln. Lincoln is probably in 738-742 shape but obviously couldn't handle that pace, which is why Cragg dropped out with 500 to go. So whereas originally i thought it was a bad race for lincoln, now i'm encouraged by it.
So maybe it was not such a bad race for Chris. At least he finished. Cragg ran a good race a week or two ago in Boston.

Bumby + other GU Frosh redshirts will be in the Jr 8k champs on Sunday. I'm going to check it out.
Interesting that Webb is doing the 12k while lukezic is doing the 4k.

Give them a cheer for me. Actually, Webb is out with bronchitis. He is actually a strong XC runner, so I am sure he wanted to work on his strength, while Chris sees he should be competitive in the 4K.

Well, Chris was not listed in the finishers of the 4K run today. Bumbi, Alex Mason, and Levi Miller are set to run the junior race tomorrow.

In the 8K junior race: 4. Bumbi 24:06 (winning time 23:50) 12. Levi Miller 24:31 33. Alex Mason 25:42
This race bodes well for the XC team next year.

I saw the race and actually spoke with's Bumby's mother--she indicated that he is having a good time at GU--as far as the race goes Bumby ran a controlled race hanging with a progressively smaller lead pack as the race went on--he was solidly in place for the top 6 who will go to the worlds in japan next month , but he di not have enough left to unleash a kick at the end(it was very cold + windy) to make a stab at the top spot. Acouple of people at the race thought he could do that since he's a lot faster on the track than the winner.
Levi Miller also looked very strong and fresher at the end than Bumby ,though he ran mostly with the second pack. mason was not really with the leaders(he also looked pretty bulked up for an XC runner)
Agree with Nevada that we should have a very strong XC team next yr, both Miller and Bumby looked very good.

These times would have placed Bumby and Milller and and 5th at this yrs Big east Champs--we should have a shot at taking ND next yr.

Thanks for the on-the-site report, reformation. Good that you got the inside scoop from Bumby's mom and glad that he is enjoying GU. Maybe he was not used to the bitter cold (being from Tennessee). Good race for him.

Chris's first national championship. Inspired by the rousing defeat of Syracuse by the HOYAs, Chris won the indoor 1500m at the USATF meet.
