Hakeem Warrick's dunk on sportscenter was a festivus feat of strength. From a standstill from the block (outside the lane) to the rim without anything but a two-foot hop. He's a great playmaker and an awesome athlete, but I still hate him. That would have been stuffed in his eye if he tried that on Big Roy!

Can I just take a moment to say that Sean McDonough must die?
OK, maybe that's a little strong.
But never let this man announce a Syracuse game again. Please, someone, a little sanity here. Johnny Most was more objective calling games for the Celtics.
I believe one of the lines went something like this:
"Is there a better basketball player, great kid, all-around super guy on this entire planet than Gerry McNamara?"
The chunks were rising, most definitely.
OK, that's my short little rant.
Go Hoyas! Pummel the college of choice for every Soprano or Kevin Smith character ever!

Could Chris Thomas be more overrated than Josh Boone? Time and time again he makes bad decisions while running the offense and does very little to make his teammates better. It seems as though he has gotten worse over the last few years.

Shhhhhhh...don't tell anyone but Chris Thomas hasn't gotten better because the offense run by all the Dukie disciples fails to highlight and develop the skills of a true point. It allows him to put up garbage assist numbers taking one dribble and passing to a wing for three, never allows him to develop a mid-range game, and pretty much plays away from his strengths causing rushed shots from three and great penetration with no teamates in position to finish strong.
If a point guard goes into the Duke system, he loses his ability to drive effectively, on the court or motor vehicles apparently.

Chris Thomas is a perfect example of my theory regarding basketball.
I think there are two kinds of players -- those who need the ball (Iverson, Bryant, Thomas) in their hands and those that do not (Ben Wallace, Jon Wallace, Craig Hodges).
The former are inevitably stars. They are the high scorers, the high assist men.
Every team needs a player or two like that. The latter group often does not have the talent to get off good shots on their own.
That player can elevate their team to a new level -- Notre Dame would not be this good without Chris Thomas. Georgetown does not go to the Sweet Sixteen without Kevin Braswell.
However, these players can also limit their team with their efficiency.
Thomas shoots 35%. Thomas is an excellent basketball player -- better than any guard that GU has. But Thomas is also the reason why ND isn't an elite team.
On a team without another guy who needs the ball, Chris Thomas is worth a lot.
But if Chris Thomas were on say, Syracuse, Ashanti Cook or Jon Wallace would be a better fit at point than Thomas.
It's not to say that GU couldn't use him, or that he's a bad player. But he basically caps the level ND can reach with him. He's too good NOT to give him the ball. But he's not efficient enough to beat a team that has a player that good who is really efficient.
Unfortunately for ND, no one else on that team can stand up.
