I'm curious if any of you have heard of this lady. I got a solicitation in the mail from a "Stehpanie Mohr" from Merrifield, Va. Supposedly she was a decorated police officer who encountered a couple of burglers one night and released her police dog which detained one of the crooks by biting him. The crooks were illegal aliens who were convicted and deported. Some five years later she was charged in the biting and her letter says that she is now serving 10 years for violating Ricardo Mendez' civil rights. She paints some sob story about missing her son Adam and tucking him in at night. He will be 14 when she has served her time. The whole thing sounds a bit far fetched to me. I am curious if any of you have heard of this lady and what more is there to this story. She paints the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice as the bad guys. Is this merely a scam and a complete fabrication or is it a very doctored story? Or gasp, could it possibly be exactly as her letter tells?
Anyone?

How exactly is this thread about pro or college sports?
Figuring out which board to use shouldn't be this hard (the answer for you, of course, is a Gators board)

Entry: google Part of Speech: verb Definition: to search for information on the Internet, esp. using the Google search engine Example: hifigator saved everyone a lot of time and bother by googling the name "stephanie mohr" to learn of the legitimacy of some random e-mail he received. Everyone on the Hoyatalk boards was extremely appreciative of this gesture and initiative on his part. Example2: hifigator did not know how to google something, so one Hoyatalk member set aside his disdain and scorn and gave hifi an easy out accompanied by this admonishment. . ."Next time, look it up yourself." www.snopes.com/politics/crime/mohr.asp

Sorry about that. I honestly did mean to put this on the Blue and Grey board. Careless mistake. Incidentally I found the Snopes link for anyone who is interested. Just like I thought there is quite a bit more to Mrs. Mohr's story: www.snopes.com/politics/crime/mohr.asp

Are you that friend-less that you need to talk about your spam emails around here? Or are you that dumb that you think these spams are authentic? I think there's a Saudi prince who'll pay you a few million if you only pay to have his bank account opened up (or however that scam goes)...
Go away.

I think there's a Saudi prince who'll pay you a few million if you only pay to have his bank account opened up (or however that scam goes)... Go away. Buff, you have just won 3 million dollars from the Australian lottery. Now if you will merely submit the $2,000 processing fee we can get your 3 million on the way to you. No actually I knew that the tale wasn't exactly as presented. But I didn't have the letter with me and was going from memory when I entered the name I used "Mahr" not "Mohr" obviously I didn't get the correct info back. Since I didn't find anything on her, I was curious if any of you all had heard the story. Supposedly this took place in Virginia. THat is why I asked you guys. See 2+2 = 4. Georgetown ... Washington D.C. ... Virginia ... I didn't bother asking those in Arizona or Alaska however. Guess why not? My gut instinct told me that it wasn't a complete fabrication. In other words I was fairly sure that there was at least some semblence of truth to the story. Lo and behold, I was right. Once I spelled her name correctly I found out that there she is in fact in jail for such charges. But the "burglers" were actually homeless men instead. Furthermore that she had let her dog loose at least 4 other times under dubious circumstances.
