That is funny my dad took us to the corner store to shoot craps with the locals. Then he would make us sit in the car while he had a massage....

Man its been a while since i last went to the Dania Beach Jai-alai (i'm assuming its still open, although i'm sure the new Hard Rock Casino a few miles away has taken away much of its business). My dad used to love taking us there as kids to watch matches and place bets. Is that exclusively a florida thing, or do they have it elsewhere? Jai-Alai is an older sport from the Basque country. That is the area in norther and eastern Spain along the border with France. I have seen a documentary on the sport and it was kind of neat seeing 8 year old kids being taught the sport just like our kids are taught soccer and the sort. There were originally frontons in Las Vegas but they have been gone for quite some time. Last I heard there were still three frontons in Conneticut. At least one was in Hartford. I am pretty sure that that one closed down, but I am not sure of the rest. And Miami, you are correct about Dania Jai-Alai. It is still operating, or at least it was last season. I remember going down to Ocala to watch the simulcast of the Florida Cup. That is a 2 weekend tournament that matches the top teams from Miami, Dania and Orlando. It is some pretty exciting Jai-Alai. I kind of hate to see the sport die but I think the end is pretty much inevitable. Ironically, it was about the only for of gambling with worse odds that did the sport in. The popularity of Jai-Alai has been spiraling down from the very day they started the state Lottery. That really sucks if you ask me.

I went to a jai alai fronton in Tijuana once (made a couple of bucks), but that was about 40 years ago. They have not had the frontons in Las Vegas in at least 26 years.

Looks like the thread that talks about the rules of hijacking is coming close to being hijacked.
Outstanding! I wholeheartedly approve!
