Two of my good friends are going through a terrible time. Without going into the details, she (Laura) is in the hospital diagnosed with "cryptogenic liver disorder," which basically means that the liver isn't functioning and the doctors don't know how to treat it since they don't know the cause. Last Friday her kidneys started going out as well and they put her on dialysis. Nothing much has changed the past three days, she still has the fluid in the lungs and the clock is ticking. They are looking at the "living donor" option, but basically she is waiting on a donor. The "good" news or "bad" depending on how you look at it, is that she is at the top of the list in the southeast. Is the severity worse than the placement on the list? I don't know, but I would think they are very intertwined. At times like this it doesn't matter if you wear orange, pink or lime green. Please keep Laura and Pete in your prayers. We are told that "the prayer of a righteous man availeth much." At times like this I honestly wish I had been more righteous and I don't say that as a joke. Please keep them in your prayers. Thank You from all of us down here.

mods, I know this isn't technically in the "right" place but I came here since it is the most visited. If you can post it in the other forums I would appreciate it. If not, and you move it I will understand.

A forwarding post has been left from the main board to this board.
Hope all goes well under the circumstances.

Things like this go beyond basketball hostilities. I will keep your friend in my prayers as I'm sure others on the board will do as well.

Wow. We'll keep your friends in our thoughts.
I read your post twice, and couldn't find a reference to Pete, only the serious problems facing Laura. Did I miss something?

During this week of reflection, your friends will be in our prayers. I hope Laura gets her organ soon.

We'll say a prayer, and remember that all prayers are answered - we just don't always comprehend the answer.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. Laura has responded fairly well to the dialysis and her numbers have stabilized a bit. They also had a liver offer but turned it down because the donor had hepatitis C and apparently the doctors suggested against it. We are still waiting.
