Was in a bar, so I missed exactly what was said, but at one point didn't the announcers say something to the extent of ...
"It's good to finally see the Princeton offense executed by such an [glow=red,2,300]athletic[/glow] team."
I don't know, that made me laugh.

The announcers were Gus Johnson and Len Elmore (look up their pictures). And the closest Princteon players - JTIII and his assistant Sydney Johnson -weren't athletic? Maybe unwarranted hypersensitivity is fun and easy.

I doubt they used the word "finally" - and besides, are you saying that this Georgetown team ISN'T more athletic than those old Princeton teams? There's racism and then there's reality. Stop trying to start a fire where there's no smoke.

I get what Gus was trying to say...
We all wondered why teams with better athletes never tried to run Petey's offense...his delivery was just bad...
I doubt there was any mal-intent...just could have been stated better...
I think he and Len repeatedly commented on how smart and intelligent the Hoyas were...

He also said on a backdoor cut "that looked like Lewullis from Goodrich" referring to the play that beat UCLA. Last time I checked those guys are white. He was tallking about the the execution of the gameplan and in the former quote he was actually talking about athleticism.

It's not hypersensitivity ... in fact, I couldn't care less ...
It's just a subtext that I've noticed all year ... there's no bad intent, not saying there's a Bert Campaneris moment going on ...
It's certainly less racist than everybody in the country who offers a blanket statement that JJ Redick will not be a good NBA player.

I hear ya - didn't mean to sound accusatory. But JJ Redick won't be a good NBA player - he is from Duke.

Duke does have a mixed record on producing quality NBA players ... but how's this for a prediction, Redick will be better than Williams.

I said the same thing about Trajan Langdon, not because his skill set doesn't translate to the next level, but because I hate Alaskans.

If I were going to pick a moment to play the race card, it had to be during the Northern Iowa game when Len Elmore said Northern Iowa was "deceptively quick." I understood the deception to be that they had four white guys on the court...

This entire thread is about hypersensitivity vis-a-vis race.
Look over the comments again. Are we leaving any room for anyone to make any comment at all about any team or style of play? Words and phrases like Quick, athletic, smart, "Princeton Offense", leaper vs. jumper, "work ethic", "deceptively quick".
I would apply "deceptively quick" to Roy... and also to Big Baby, as well as to some white kid that no one "expected" to be quick.
As for the Princeton, yes -- it IS great to see it being run by an athletic team -- that is also a SMART team. And this team gets even more athletic next year.
I hope we can just sit back and enjoy the game and all the players.. regardless of their color. Unless, of course, it would be orange!

I understood the deception to be that they had four white guys on the court... yeah...I caught that one too... Translation: He's pretty fast and athletic for a white guy...
