NARAL is running an ad opposing John Roberts. Somehow they take the position he was advocating -- not to use an 1871 anti- Klu Klux Klan law against abortion clinic protestors -- and come up with this tagline: "America can't afford a justice whose ideology leads him to excuse violence against others." www.prochoiceamerica.org/

I think it's premature to lable the man as a justice whose ideology leads him anywhere. On the other hand, ridiculous laws that are still on the books get selectively enforced (or not enforced) all the time. That selectivity may give valid grounds for concern, or it may not. I can't say, because it's still too durned early to tell.
It is nice that the Administration is delaying a release of the documents it said it would fork over. Nothing like using the litigation strategy of giving your opponent everything they want (times ten even) at the last possible moment.

Interesting to note that NARAL withdrew the ad on Friday for lack of support from its own side of the aisle. Perhaps there's some civility to be reclaimed in politics after all?

I'll be here all week! The 7:30 show is different than the 9:30 show, but it's a little blue so leave the kiddies at home. Be sure to tip your waitress on the way out, and for God's sake try the veal!

Interesting to note that NARAL withdrew the ad on Friday for lack of support from its own side of the aisle. NARAL looks like they were definitely alone on this one... when Arlen Specter - their chief ally on the Republican side of the aisle comes out and says in a letter to their President that the ad "is not helpful to the pro-choice cause, which I support" and is "blatantly untrue and unfair," I guess they saw the writing on the wall. Factcheck.org argued the ad used "the classic tactic of guilt by association." Even Frances Kissling and the New York Times said it went over the line. And then NARAL's director of communications resigned the day after they pulled the add saying, "I've been thinking for a while that I would most likely leave after the Supreme Court nomination fight was over.” He said his last day with NARAL was Friday. I guess the fight is over? The WPost reported that Dems will ask tough questions but Roberts will likely sail through - they don't want to burn capital and it looks like more than 70 votes are already with him (easily over the 60 need for cloture).
