It's bad enough that I already have to deal with ESPN's "Trifecta," which significantly reduces the airtime of Baseball Tonight, the network's second-best show after College Gameday. But today I'm watching PTI, and ESPN decides to introduce another idiotic programming change. From now on, PTI will cut to Bristol between Happy Time and the Big Finish to air the first segment of Sportscenter. After the SC yahoos talk about Larry Brown/T.O./Ricky Williams (all stories which the PTI guys covered at the beginning of PTI), they go back to PTI so Wilbon and Kornheiser can rediscuss what we all just saw on Sportscenter and head to Statboy/the Big Finish.
I guess most viewers have been doing what I do: watch PTI and then turn ESPN off because today's Sportscenter anchors mostly suck and there are no stories on the 6pm Sportscenter except the ones ESPN has created through incessant media coverage. How I long for the days of Patrick and Olbermann.

I hate this move. PTI was the third best show on the network behind Gameday (Corso is incredible) and BBTN. Sports Center's highest rated show was over 10 years ago and it should be limited to doing a morning show and a night cap - because that is when it makes sense to show it. Let the PTI creators put more shows on during the 5 eastern to 8 eastern time slots.

That only sounds like a good idea--in reality, that gives us things like the new Steven A. Smith show. No one wants that.
And it looks like they're ruining the last good show they had left (no comment on College Gameday--it's too early for me). They ruined Baseball Tonight when they insisted on only having morons as commentators. Pretty much everyone on that show is an idiot, except Gammons and Olney (who isn't that bad, but is used sparingly).
Brantley? moron.
Kruk? Moron.
Bowa? They fired him for areason, didn't they?
Phillips? There's a reason why the Mets suck--this man is the main one.

Pretty much everyone on that show is an idiot, except Gammons and Olney (who isn't that bad, but is used sparingly). Yeah, I thought Baseball Tonight was at its peak during the 2003 season, when it was Ravech, Harold Reynolds, and Gammons pretty much every night. Once they added Kruk the chemistry has been pretty terrible. You're right that Kruk's analysis is horrible, and I think he's had a negative effect on HR, too. HR used to attempt to emulate Gammons, now he spends most of his airtime joking around with Kruk. I don't like Bowa or Phillips either, but they're used sparingly. Kurkjian is on more than either of them, and I generally like what he has to say. I also think ESPN is going to eventually replace Gammons with Buster Olney. They use him on Sportscenter in a very Gammons-like way, and it seems he's pretty good at getting the inside info Gammons gets from GMs. So yeah, I'll agree the show has gone downhill, but it's less moron-filled than the NBA or NFL shows.

The only answer to BBTN's problems is to buy out Bobby V's Japanese League contract. That show made some hilarious commercials and was always funny when he was on it.

If ESPN wants to find Bobby I'm sure Jerry Jones' plastic surgeon has his Nippon phone number.

ESPN is done. It is a worthless channel, except for the few times there are live sports.
I just wish someone else would take another crack at a highlight show....

This thread has solved a great quandry for me. In college in the early '90s, I'd watch SC religiously, but I haven't seen a full SC in five or more years. I used to wonder whether this was due to the fact that my interests have changed or the show had become stale.
I'm still good, baby!
