Btw, why did you end your last diatribe with a question mark? It seems very Ron Burgandy-esque ...

I love a good internet scratch-fight, even if it comes at the expense of hijacking a perfectly decent thread about prospective students' views of our beloved GU. And I say that as a poster that's gone a few rounds with 'bin on this board himself.

Just wanted to throw in two points, one relevant to the initial post and one relevant to the St. Pete/thebin lovefest.
1) The tour is one of the main reasons I ended up at GU. Compared to other schools, I had a great tour guide, and everyone was out on the lawn, being social, etc. It reflected the school well, IMO.
2) I'm a California liberal (though not Jewish) and while I'm Catholic, I wasn't so much when I left for school. I had zero reservations about going to Georgetown -- what's the point of being open-minded if you are only half-open-minded?

I think the timing of that girl's tour says a lot too. If you show up to campus in late April, there's no way you can leave without wanting to go there... everyone's out on the lawn, cherry blossoms, etc. Go in the summer - as I did - and there's nothing going on, its scorching hot, you don't necessarily have the best tour guides around (correct me if I'm wrong there), etc.

I went back the next spring when trying to make a final decision on college and had a much, much better experience. Going back to the article, I also visited Brown and left halfway through the opening talk. This chick might call taking a tour with a gay barefoot hippie dude wearing a wife beater "casual," but I call it scaring my mom. I also visited Dartmouth and thought it was pretty cool, but I found the D-Plan pretty stupid, whereas this girl seems to like it. I partially agree with thebin that I don't really care what this girl says, but it's because whatever anyone says about college visits/admissions is going to be pretty arbitrary. Different strokes for different folks. It's sort of like asking someone, "Why do you like or dislike Pabst Blue Ribbon?" You're going to get a different answer from everyone.

You're implying its possible to dislike PBR? Ok, please don't post here ever again. You're clearly a moron who's lost all credibility in the eyes of all HoyaTalk participants. A better selection would have been something like Coors Light (to which I would have answered, "I hate The Silver Bullet because it replaced THE HIGH LIFE at The Tombs). Just playin', Austin. You're the man, Ol' Dirty.

Plus when you buy Coors products you give money to that ultra-right wing family.
