If that guy thinks that DC should inspire to New England's standard for snow removal, well then he's setting his sights too low.
The Midwest (specifically the Twin Cities) is unbelievably efficient. The only time anything gets closed there anymore is when the temperatures are so far below zero that they're dangerous. The blizzard that hit the Northeast this winter and cause closures and mucked up driving conditions for weeks (I was at BC a week after the blizzard and Boston was still bad) wouldn't have even gotten the kids out of school for one day--why? Because the snow was on the weekend, more than ample time for them to get the roads cleaned up.
Then again, I like snowdays, so why would I want DC to get better at snow removal?
